So i think i have finally decided to get a Z4 so i went to look at some prices, i first rang round my local dealer, and they were very much come in and we can work out a better deal.

So i went in, and they basically said he is the sticker thats it, i felt like saying what the hell was the point in me sitting in traffic to get told that?

So i had i read about some good deals out there for a 3.0 or 3.0Si so i had high hopes, this what i was told:

3.0si convert -- $4500 down - $542 a month for 24 months: based on $51,070 MSRP down to $43000. Residual of 68% 10,000 miles a year!

Z4M convert -- $6000 down -549 a month for 24 months: based on nothing, the guy wouldn't tell me unless i drove down there and he basically said there was not much movement!

I asked the dealer about the price difference and the money factor on the 3.0si is much higher, i asked why money would be loaned at different rates considering i was pre-paying, she said she didn't know.

I got my hands on a lease buying guide and so far each time phone dealership they get really pissed when i start asking questions.

The car is for weekend or local errands i would like it to be fully loaded with Nav.

Anyone got any advice for a complete car buying newb.

Aren't they heavily discounting on the vert since summer?

2006 models have great incentives. Sounds like your sales guys are not too willing to deal, I'd shop around till you find one that will.

Christ, I'll sell you my Z4 3.0 for $28,000. You can pay it off in 3 years and still pay less that what the dealers are quoting you. :rolleyes

What a bunch of greedy scumbags.

Thanks for all the replies, they were all so rude and i just got the impression they didn't really give two shits.

Also the other question that they couldn't give me a good answer for was that whenever i asked about leasing a used Z4, they just blindly said "Yeah i wouldn't do that it is more expensive"

I pointed out that a lease payment is mainly made up of the depreciation payment, which is the rate of depreciation.

There response was, well it is just more expensive.

This makes no sense to me as i thought the car would depreciate less with age.

Can anyone clarify?

Also, they kept telling me that if i leased the car for longer than 24 months it would get more exspensive..... is that also true?

So for all the questions, it is just i am now in a position where i would really like the car, but dont trust a word these guys say.

Go to a different dealer. There are several in the So. Cal area (if you know who to talk to) that will treat you with respect and give you straight information.

Crevier BMW (talk to Judy Ray)
Irvine BMW (talk to Philippe Khan)
McKenna BMW (talk to Kevin Hite)

i got 2.5 K below sticker on mine from irvine as well. i would definitely talk to:
Judy @ crevier
Marcelo @ Irvine

marcelo is the sole reason i got my discount and my car in the first place. they guy is a straight fwd no BS non pushy and will help you as much as he can.

the trick is to talk to as many dealers and know as much as possilbe about the cars so they can't throw BS at you. you'd be ammazed how much misInfo and BS they throw at you during the sales pitch and if u don't know any better u'd believeit. Once they realize you're as much knowledgeable if not more, than them, it makes the negotiations much more to the point and smoother.

basically go in with a price sticker in mind and be prepared to go to any and all other dealers to get your price (but make it fair). i would say $500 to $1000 is doable if you are a good negotiator. don't get your loans from them if possible because they'll back-load the discount on your loan or lease.

This sounds like a great deal, do you know if it was fully loaded or not?

Also can anyone explain the logic of why a Z4M would basically be the same lease as a 3.0si (even including the $7000 dealer incentive).

This looks like it would do me:

I am right in thinking that if anything goes wrong with this car it is still covered under BMW, so basically i cant go wrong as long as the carfax checks out?

I also imagine i would use escrow - haha

an 06 3.0si should lease for 1100 total due and 400 a month --the lease rates just changed for November I heard they are very aggressive for all the cars.. check www.bimmerfest.com "ask a dealer" section you should be able to get a great deal on a vert at this time.

another completely internet based purchasing mechanism is to use this great service from cars direct. here's a writup of exactly how this system works:
http://www.techcrunch.com/2006/10/28/my-carsdirect-experience/#more-3486

if dealing with sales people is not your cup of tea, that may be the way to go.

I just got a Z4 Coupe (second in the island - Blue) and they were quoting me $43,400, 767.42mo with a $5000 down and 12,000 miles for a 3 year lease, at 8.12%. You know what I did, called my bank and bought the car right in their face at 5.00%, same down, and $642mo. See, sometimes you just have to think...will post pics later.

So in the end i found a fully loaded z4 3.0si that was stickered for around $51,900 after haggling all day i got them down to $40,000.

I just ended up paying cash as i have no credit in this country.

Very happy with the car so far, i am hoping considering the price i paid i wont get too hurt on the backend, also considering i have the 6 year mainteance and warranty.

Thanks for all the help.
