my auto tech said that my car is missfireing and i didnt have time to leave it w/ him so he can look at it. what can cause a missfire? anyone know?

A lot of things... Intake leak, bad MAF, fuel delivery problem, bad plugs, flaky DME, flaking timing reference signal, and so forth.
