That pretty much means Benbrook/south Ft Worth for a nice area within 20 mins. The drive from most of the places up north on 35 are anywhere from a bit more than that to quite a bit more since they tend to stay on the East side of 35 up north of the city. South of the city you want to live west of 35.

i'll do 160k for it, you've seen my house. willing to leave some goodies too

and oh I have a rental house in central arlington with 4 rooms I'd sell for 100k.

Decent homes for between 100K and 180K in the Chapel Creek area.. Close to the base, less than a 10 minute drive.

I would suggest Arlington but that's a little far from the base.

Chapel Creek would probably be the best bet posted thus far in terms of price and location.

Just wondering, do your friend and his wife have children? I ask this because if so you have to consider the schools.

I've been watching that show on HGTV about buying house's and their currently looking at house's in Ft worth. Some nice stuff in the area but they never show the price on this show.

I myself will be looking to buy a house little less than a year around the DFW area can't figure out where yet.

OK forget about the schools but around the base the White Settlement district is bad. Castleberry ISD is also bad but the average value in that district is around 50K.

No, imo anything you find online thats free is usually way off, like kbb and nada. IIRC my house was like 130k more than I paid for it.

No, Zillow is not accurate. The most accurate number is going to be from the licensed RE appraiser but of course that's not exactly free.

Agreed. It's about $50k too high on my house. It does give you a general idea of the area that you are looking in and the surrounding neighborhoods.
