Can anyone tell me what this sensor is called, give me a part number and also tell what exactly it does, ie, when the engine warms up does it close the idle air control valve? Mine's broken and my idle stays high for too long.

This is known as the 17 degree (c) switch.
It provides enrichment when you are in Siberia and it gets a bit windy so there is enough fuel to just freeze in the intake ports!!

For real it provides fuel enrichment, and the switch is CLOSED below 17c or also known as 63f. So ground the bn./bl wire and it will go rich.

A little known way of cheating your fuel system to help you out with that hot cam or TURBO you might have installed. As long as your lambda system is working.

By the way, how is that cruise AFR issue??

Is it possible that you know too much about the E21 Jeff?

I think not

Thanks Jeff. I'll connect the wires and see what happens.

The highway cruising is better, but not perfect. I have a switch so I can cut the O2 signal to the computer and it was off. With lambda on the frequency valve can keep me just on the map. It will fall off lean every now and then, but let off the throttle and it richens back up.

In the colder weather I've started to go lean over 5500 rpm so I have to short shift it. If my calculations are correct, my HP peak would be around 7k if I could supply the fuel. My fuel pump was pulled off a parts car and may not be up to the task. Anyone know if there are high flow pumps on the market? If not, I'm wondering if my k-jet setup could support more than 220 hp if I ran dual pumps.

I have another mystery (to me, anyway) sensor. There is a vacuum canister attached to the intake manifold support on the post 80 cars that have the warm start retrofit (the black piggyback wiring harness). When I pull a vacuum on the sensor the voltage doesn't change, but when I release the vacuum the voltage spikes for a second or so then goes back to 0. What does this do? Enrichen the motor when you nail the throttle to improve throttle response?
