I seen a couple of young guys driving one once and when we got to a stoplight I asked if it was his and he said yes and then he ended up saying that they had just rented it for the night. I think he said it was like 500 bucks for half a day. ouch!

Haha, that's hilarious.

Lambos really move out. My buddies Murcielago gets out like a bat out of hell.

Nice death. If you're gonna lose to anything a Lambo isn't that bad of a car to lose to.

They're about 500 bucks a day over here in Vegas. I've been debating on whether to do it or not.....500 bucks can go to the bimmer.....or for one day in a Lambo...... :shifty

I think the only "production" cars that can run high 10s are MAYBE an Enzo, the Koenigg CCX, Veyron and Saleen S7 TT. The Carrera GT and Ford GT and the rest are deep 11s and "slower".

I would like to see the CCX w/ higher boost and race gas......................monster

Sounds a little fast to me... I expected 4.7ish. I think the E46 M3 is claimed at 4.9, but tests have proven faster, and it weighs less AND has more power than the M Roadster.

The Koenigsegg and Veyron are both claimed as 9 second cars. Don't know how much truth there is to that though, as I have never even HEARD of one at the strip.

Why are their 1/4 mile times in the 12s / 13s, but with an insanely fast 0 - 60??

Is it just really geared for take-off or what?

Highly unlikely. The 750hp S7 TT ran a 10.9 @ 140mph in C&D, 4/06. It weighs under 3000lbs. The Veyron may have 300hp more, but it also weighs over 1000lbs more as well along with parasitic AWD.

Traction issues alone keep keep street cars from running under 10sec and without upgrading the rear end, a hard launch with slicks will destroy the axles/differential.

Couple of things. Most magazine tests (and owners) don't dump the clutch at high rpm since they are all AWD. Even so, they get a great 0-60 but they ARE quite heavy. The latest I know of is the Murcielago, at 572hp, running low 12s @ 120mph.

The E46 is almost 400 pounds heavier. BMW even went as far as crippling the Z3M's with a horrible rear end ratio to make sure they wouldn't crush the M3. The more power is 18 HP I believe all due to the extra bends in the exhaust on the Roadster. What you may find in practice is the E46 is easier to drive hard because it has a more modern rear suspension.

HUh? Even an M3 CSL is heavier than an Z3 M Roadster. The regular M3 Coupe comes in at over 3400lbs unladen (read no driver) according to BMW USA. A Z3 M Roadster is about 3000lbs. With over 400lb deficit, the M3 is no faster.
In fact I just saw a video b/t an M3 vs an S54 M Coupe and from a roll, the MC took off as if the M3 started on 2nd gear.
