Greetings.

Can anyone tell me what wire gauge is used in the connection from the alt to the starter? I'm rewiring my E21 and that one was toast, all brittle and such.

Thanks,

Paulo

Ouch!

Guess I should replace it. I am using a 10 ga.

Hmmm. Come to think of it, 4 ga is about what I have from the battery to the starter... Do I really need one that big from the alternator to the starter?

Thanks,

Paulo

The wire on mine appears to be around 10 gauge.

If its the stock alternator, you should be fine. If you are using a higher output alternator, consider using 8 gauge.

It is an upgraded alt, a 80 amp. Stock is 50, right? And I wondered why was that wire's insulation "crispy", hehehehe...

Peperry, that was very helpful. :)
