The "half inch" studs are 12mm, so it's a one mm difference. The bigger stud allows a somewhat higher clamping load/torque setting, but the proper indicated torque depends on what lubricant is used to install them. What lube was used, ARP?

Whatever happened to bringing your car out to show us other local BMW owners?

You were dead set on bringing it out after a week of posts on our forum(baybimmers.com) saying you were going to be out with the car to run some other local boost junkies... then you were a no show and haven't made a post since then to explain why you weren't out.

That made a few of the people who had backed you up and met you in person beforehand look REALLY bad when there were guys with their cars out ready to take a stab at this fabled M3 beast, and then you never showed up.

We mentioned that claiming a 800+hp BMW is going to be criticized until you can prove you've got it -- how much longer till this car actually materializes to something more than a list of parts and claimed horsepower on an internet forum?

Yet you said you were going to come out to hang and after not showing up you havent said a word...

I get it -- now you are too good for the local crew, none of which said they didnt believe you didnt have a car, but just wanted to SEE the damn thing. You stressed you would show up over and over, yet you never did... now we know why.

No problem at all, just should have said so from the beginning. Let us know when there are pics =)

BTW, what do you think 120ft-lbs of torque on the head studs will do the block's deck??

It will destroy the block eventually. the BMW cylinder head is not designed for 120lbs of torque, it will do damage to the cylinder head and will not seal properly. Ussually tighter is better, but when you have 2 different metals, aluminum and cast iron it dosent work that way, but hey.... if its working for you im happy. :)

whats the max tq and whats the max size stud you guys have used on the 3.2 block? I asked my machien guy about 1/2 studs but I was advised agains it... due the design of the block(threadserts) and the proximity of the cylinders...

Why would anything larger than the diameter of smallest part of the stud make it stronger? You see what I'm saying? You're only as strong as your weakest link... yes?

Pics (when you can) of the 4" intake please. Did you change sway bars?

What did you do to get your 4" intake to fit?

I can't get past 3.5" to fit. I think ICS's intake is $800 because it comes with a custom a/c compressor bracket and maybe a different length belt :dunno

two way get rid of the ac or you cut like a hourseout of the comprresorand weld the pipe like a million time to get it to fit so i took out my ac was the easy way and it is just a 4inch 45 with a filter at the end real good air flow
but with the commpressor its a bitch and if you want your ac have ics or aa do it to many weld go on aa site and look at omar car and you can see all the damn welds

Hooman,

DId you used to have a dumped yellow m3 on chrome 5 spokes back in the day? Also, is joe essa the guy from "midnight autoworks" that tried to screw everyone? If so, i hope you know what youre getting into. He promises a lot of stuff and follows through with none of it.

if i have extra time i will i saw that place when i droped off the car looked big is it all indoor and how fast are the carts because that is literally 2 seconds away from were the car is next to the jail lol

HEHhe yeah, its totally sketchy that its next to a jail. The course is 100% indoor and has arcades with a full bar. The karts are pretty quick with the new track setup (i would say around 45ish mph on the straightaway). Its a ton of fun.. The three times that ive gone there (since the "reopening") i set the fastest times for those days! :) Just make sure to bring a helmet if you have one.

what did you do for cylinder dowles?
the 11mm studs are barely small enough for the dowles to slide over them. then you have the problem with the head holes being too small too.... so the head holes would have to be drilled out as well....

well we ran into some problems with the turbo draining because the dumb ass that put my car together had the mid section sitting at a 70 degree angle when its supposed to be at 30 degrees and all the wiring for the electramotive and scavenge pump are fucked up so there goes more time and money isnt that some bullshit my lesson learned who you have build it have tune it because you will run into problems like this when more than one person touches the car what can you do every body claims they are the best and i have had the car down for more than a year now but at essa tech for only 3 weeks and hopefully he finishs soon i need boooooost!
