My 1981 320i has power steering but i think its just out of fluid because it really sucks right now. I popped the hood looking for the power steering container and i couldnt find it. Also i was planning on using left over brake fluid that i had from my 300zx. im trying to sell this car so i dont really care a whole lot about it all i need is something thats going to impress the buyer with some power steering. thanks

Used brake fluid would work really well because the water content will greatly increase the heat capacitance of the fluid so it will increase the warm up time and reduce your chanced of blowing a power steering fluid resevoir which is what may have happend to the last PS resevoir. Plus putting that old brake fluid to work will boost the economy. If only there were more people like you and me to help keep America in the front.

ATF fluid would cost you at least $2. Used brake fluid cost $0. I think the answer is obvious. Save your money!

Of course ladeedadeeda is serious! He needs to sell the car and there is nothing wrong with trying to save a buck or two.

save a buck and putting the wrong fluid in the PS pump is just dumb. So instead of trying to do the right thing, he is going to destory the PS system and make it a problem for the next buyer because he's a cheap F? Thats wrong. I buy and sell cars for a living. I NEVER cut corners on something that is a safety item. The fact that people on this board that are supporting this stupidity is baffling.

My Euro e21 has no power steering. And by the way i finished the brackets on my front bumper and im now working on shortening the side plastic things, the bumper looks good and it was a little trouble getting it on because i cut it just to short but it worked so im going to pray i dont get in an accident because the bumper is pretty much touching the front clip haha.

rack and pinion all the way. you only need power steering to parelel park anyway, and who really needs to do that.

Mine doesn't have power steering.
But I thought: "maybe it was an option?"

Mine doesn't have power steering either. It requires greasing instead.

Hi

It was an option on the 21 not common, but all auto's have power steering, it's actually very good, better feel that mosy power steering, and the rack is solid mounted no bushes

Not so fast. My e21 is an auto and does not have power steering. The couple others I have found were all manual steering too. To be honest, I have never seen a 320 with power steering, just 323's. :round
