... just found this forum -- I'm an active member of roadfly and browser of bimmerforums, thought I'd speak up on this thread.

moved to PDX in August and am looking to do some DE's at PIR. Akakubi, you wanna give me the heads up on events? I don't mind autocrossing but would rather spend my *very limited* free time on the track. Alfa club, Audi, club, BMW club, even PORSCHE club, I don't care, I need some seat time!!!

hey Mitch,
were you at BMW Bellevue this past Tuesday? I think i recognize your car, i was there and a black Dinan3 pulled in past me. if so, nice ride man. good luck with the swap. you'll have CRAZY hp comin' out of that monster!

Mitch P.
01-10-2003, 01:02 AM
Yes I was! I actually saw your car at CC and was snooping around checking out your swap. If you know of anyone else who wants to put a 2.8l in thier 325 or 318 let them know and I'll rebuild my 2.8l for them to buy. I'm hoping to put out 300rwhp/280ft-lbs to the ground. Should be around 360hp/320+ft-lbs at the crank. Then, once I'm used to that I'll give another tuning effort and bring things up another 40 notches :) My other project will be to add a 4-wheel brake kit and some nice 18's to round out the package. Can't wait!

Sure, awesome! You'll have a blast.

1st day is going to be March 1st - Alfa club.

I am almost done putting the schedule for the rest of the year on my website, as well as some preparation tips. I'll post the link in a day or two.

I doubt you will need to pre-register for this event. Alfa days are never too packed.

Porsche will have a day on the 14th, but I won't go with them... Too much talk and not much driving. Plus, they don't allow passengers. :complain

BMW will be on the 30th. For this event you will have to pre-register. Our events fill up very quickly. Check their site to pre-register:

http://www.bmwacaportland.com/

We'll have fun!

Great project!

It's a sleeper rocket for sure. :D

Two things: check the rear subframe and the diff. The subframe can get torn under heavy torque loads. It happens on the non-FI-ed cars. M3 has reinforcing plates, but they too get torn off sometimes. Browse Bimmerfest for some nasty pics and stories.

The diff is also a weak link for high torque.

Otherwise, best luck to your project! I would really like to see that beast in action some day.

Mitch P.
01-10-2003, 05:03 PM
great, thanks on the subframe tip. I'll have that added to the list. As far as the diff, I already am running an M3 diff :) By the way, you'll see me at PIR for sure. Already been down there

Akakubi

I will to try to make it up there this year. It's always packed though. Gotta pre-register very early.

Mitch P.
01-10-2003, 06:20 PM
not if you're on the ProFormance Racing school list. Usually no more than 15-20 people for an entire day. As much as you want! Of course it costs twice as much. But, you don't have to worry about traffic or slow pokes :)

Sounds good Marques!! I'll have to do that. I better get some mods though or I won't be able to keep up. HaHa!! Just curious, is a OBD-1 328 faster than a OBD-2? I'm assuming yes, since they say OBD-1 responds better to mods. Anyways man, yeah lets go drive sometime.

yes, an obd1 328 will be faster than obd2 not only b/c of better response to mods but it uses less restrictive obd1 parts as well.
not that this was necessarily fair but i raced a 328 on the freeway a few weeks ago and crushed it, poor guy. not sure if he had any engine mods, but it was lowered w/ wheels, a schnitzer kit and an M badge!!

 I am here now! I just bought my '99 titanium silver M coupe (pics to come) on Saturday! I just came from a Honda S2000, so the M is taking some getting used to...most of which I totally love!

I live and work in Portland, OR, and I have only seen two M or Z coupes on my side of town over the last year... I keep getting that "what the f#$% is that?" look from people! :D too funny...
