Hehe okay :) Probably right about the 4 months :D

I've been to Houston and Corpus Christi before, Houston was nice on a saturday night. Only was in Corpus Christi for one day and ended up in some titty bar because it was on a wednesday or so and there was nothing to do in the regular bars. Didn't even reaize they were that close.

Own a mini storage property in Bville and Port Is. Place is a pit but you are twenty minutes to Padre. And, he is oh-so-freaking right and not going over that bridge to Mexico.

Please understand that Brownsville is the arm pit of Texas and do not judge my fair state based on that town. If you're from Holland I think you'd really enjoy Austin and if you feel like coming to Dallas via Southwest (the KLM Cityhopper of Texas) just post here and someone will take you in for the weekend. I VERY highly suggest getting out of Brownsville though

My family has keeps a house in Brownsville (well, Rancho Viejo) b/c we have a manufacturing facility in Mexico and a distribution center in Brownsville, so we take friends and hit the house a few times a year for some Mexican fiesta-ing when no one business-related is staying there. The town is a shit hole but there is GREAT food and fun to be found and everything is dirt cheap. Learn some basic spanish.

Couple of hints: Don't enter Mexico at Matamoros, always take the extra time and head out to Progresso. You will be killed upon entrance for being white and driving a BMW at Matamoros. When I had my e46 Wes and I entered there and promptly turned around only to be throughly searched at border patrol, as two young people in a nice car leaving Mexico screams drug smuggler.

There is a GREAT restaurant in Progresso called Ay Jalisco... as you enter the town just stay on the main strip and it'll be on your right about a half mile down, past the Canada Store. Bucket of 5 Coronas or Negro Modelas for $5 and HUGE plates of food dirt cheap, live music and dancing, etc.

If you walk across (which is the easiest and safest thing to do) do NOT throw money to the kids under the bridge as you cross the river back to the US side. Those kids' parents keep them out of school and exploit them to get money from tourists and once you throw a handful of change tons of kids start screaming at you for more. They make hundreds of dollars a day, literally.

Have a good time!

The Laguna Madre at South Padre offers some of the really good windsurfing and kiteboarding conditions. If you don't know how, take lessons because no matter how badly you screw up you can always walk back because the water's only a few feet deep.
