Hey guys,

There is an "art in motion" Cruise night coming up on Thurs, June 26th in Brighton at a local custom retailer (first class auto). It's open to all sport compact cars 1979 and newer (to avoid the classic car crapola).

If any of you guys would be interested in attending please let me know, maybe we could pick up a few beers afterward or something.... Plus it would be nice to have a BMW presence there as they are pretty rare in this town. It'll be mostly rice.

So who won the race?? It looks like the M5 got the jump.

the truck started to pull the m5 in third so by the 1/4 the truck was in the lead. the guy with the m5 was new to the lot and the funny thing was all the muscle car guys thought the bmw had a 6 cylinder and thought they could trick a unsuspecting "import" guy into a spanking from a sleeper pickup well they bit their tounges after that race....here's to u muscle car guys :finger22:

ALright so seriously, when are we all going to get together?

Anyone going to HIN in Chicago on the 26th of July? Josh, Matt and I are if anyone wants to ride down with us.

Otherwise we gotta pic a date and stick to it. It doesn't have to be an event or anything, just a meet and maybe some lunch and some beers or soemthing somewhere.

Everyone fluked out last year, lets not have that again!! :az:

I'm probably going to HIN Chicago to hang out with my friends from there. Check out Euroteknik.com for details about that.

Somebody that lives in Ann Arbor or Lansing seriously just needs to scout out a location and I'm there.

I did suggest meeting on Tuesday's at BW3's in Novi but that really doesnt work out for you west side guys.

The dyno is called Baker Engineering and it's in Grand Haven.
If you get at least 10 people together it's $40 per person for 2 pulls each. WinPep. I did it last year with ClubSI and they are taking names for another dyno run in August.

I'm a newbie from MI. Monroe to be exact, work in Farmington Hills though so I log a lot of miles on the daily beater 318ti. Has an M3 front bumper, M3 E-46 wheels, 328 brakes, and a 1.5 inch drop. Ricer exhaust soon to be replaced by stock from a board member. White car. Wave it you see me.

Stone me if you must but I'm more of a VW enthusiest and can be found on MIVE (michiganvw.org) quite often. My show car is a new Beetle on air ride but I've owned the full circle of VW products and just sold my 65 bug. The ti just happened to make a nice daily beater to replace a Corrado I had. But I'm starting to really like it, and think I'll keep it around for a good while. I just wish it wasn't so damn slow. At the import drags at Norwalk a few weeks ago, I was just about the slowest car there. The 18 inch wheels really killed it. Pretty embarrasing getting my arse handed to me by stock beater Ford Tempo's and Plymouth Acclaims, amongst a host of other lame rides.

Welcome to the boards...err...uhh...sweetdaddyD

On Tuesdays you should head out to BW3's in Novi after work. You would be right by 275/96 so it wouldn't be too far out of your way home.

You just need an M3 engine in your 318ti. That will wake it up a bit.

Power restored for me. What chaos. Unbelievable.

I didn't have enough gas to get home when the blackouts hit. Had to sit in a gas station for over 3 hours until another guy had some gas delivered and agreed to let me have some. Must not have been premium as the car is running rough.

I tried to head up to the gas station this morning....NOT! Over 3 hour waits, cars lined down the street.

Unbelievable. The greedy Arab gas station owner came and emptied ice into his trunk and took off in his car with American flags pasted onto the doors. Probably so he doesn't get racial profiled and beat to shit. Closed the station and left. No drinks or anything for the patrons (many, many people stranded at his station). When a businessman in a Lexus complained the employees cursed at him and threatened to remove him from the premesis because it was "private property." This was the Amoco station at the corner of Novi rd and 12 mile. Avoid it if you can, I know I won't ever go there. I'll walk to another station first.

These crisis situation bring out the best and unfortunately the worst in people.

Cheers

Well, I went to order my TEC3, but Vic Sias is out of town for the next week and a half. He's in Kansas as the SCCA Auto-X Nationals or some crap like that!

HIN Los Angeles was great. Lots of :boobies

The Friday night before sucked ass. I got tossed in the back of a police cruiser for a good 30 minutes while the officers tried to make me confess to a hit-and-run that I was totally innocent of.

I tell you what...I thought about confessing to it just so I wouldn't have to spend my entire weekend in jail. They kept saying "Just tell us you hit that car and we'll let you go."...

YEAH RIGHT!

Those cops were asses...and terrible "detectives". No wonder the O.J. Simpson case was botched!

Okay everyone...there is a car show/ dyno day at Monkey Wrench Racing in Commerce Township.

Here's the flyer:

http://monkeywrenchracing.com/grand%20opening%20flyer.htm

It's only $50 for two dyno pulls....not a bad deal. The dyno is a dynopack so you don't have to worry about your control arms being bent like has happened to me and many others it seems.

It's from noon to 6pm. I'll be there...hope to see at least a couple of you guys out there and see what your cars can do!

I would definitely like to see the ride and get a ride also one of these days. I am grabbing lunch with some car buddies tomorrow for Thai but maybe sometime next week.

Ralliart: I am quite happy there. I have been there for a little over a year and I am actually finishing up my internship as we speak. A little less then 3 months to go and I will be working there full time on salary:) My m3 is going to be a congratulations on graduating gift to myself. What is your brother's name and when will he be starting and in what department?

Tasmisr: All depends when the get together is. I am busy with school, work, and a long distance relationship. I will be going to the drift event in Clio on October 11th. Anyone else planning on going? I think it will be entertaining if the drifters are good or bad...plus it is only 5 to spectate and 30 to compete in drifting or drag racing.

I think that is all the questions and comments for now.

Rob, it is normally 20 bucks for a 10 minute run but certain days have discounts and such...I believe Mondays are all you can drive for 50 bucks. May be worth taking a day off of work and skipping school for a full day of racing.

how many of you drive ur car in the snow?

EMC
10-08-2003, 05:23 PM
I drove mine in the snow for the first 2 years/seasons I had it. It really tears up the car. The last 4 years it has been stored for the winter.

My rally car was a lot of fun in the snow and I drove that one winter, but power washed it all the time to get the salt off.

I need to move someplace warm so I can drive my cars year-round.

I'm looking for a 2.93 rear differential....so I can have it rebuilt as a 2.93 LSD.

Somebody here must have one that they want to get rid of. :D Just let me know how much $$ you are looking to get.

Please email or PM me if anyone has one, or knows someone that does. I'll drive my car out to pick it up and we can take a spin (not literally).

If you prefer to still have a spare, I have a 3.15 open that I'll leave with you.

Thanks,
Eric

EMC
10-12-2003, 01:49 AM
Yeah, If Dick can get me a 2.93 diff, I was going to drop it off when I picked the diff up.

Get your wheels yet?

I put in my Dinan flywheel/M5 clutch this morning. No more slipping clutch. I also hooked up my wideband 02 controller and tweaked my fuel system on the laptop. The car runs better than before...although I know there is easily another 30 to 40 horsepower to be had in advancing the timing and upping the boost a couple of pounds.

Sure thing Dave... The sad part is that I think that the joy of my car would have to be the sound system. That and the handling, but even that isnt tip top without some springs. Either way its nice... I take lunches at 11:00-12:00 so other than that I'm not sure when you're gonna get your ride :stickoutt

Ohh and what the hell were you doing pulling up in an IS300 Thursday?!?!

DSrugis
10-16-2003, 10:33 PM
The IS is my pop's car. They are away on vacation so I can take out any car I want. It is a 5 speed so it is fun. I am probably going to take it to work tomorrow also.

Let me know when you are looking at ordering springs also. Also, if you have any Talon questions www.xceedspeed.com has a lot of talon guys and they are all local even though most are 2nd or 3rd gen but they can prob tell you a good place to buy parts if not sell you their used parts. Worth looking into.

I work till about 12:30 everyday since I am doing halfdays for the next 2 months till I graduate. I leave after 12:30 for classes so I don't know when I will have a chance to look at it but once you move to the Prototype shop I am sure I will talk with you more cause I am in there a couple times a week. See ya tomorrow.

I'm going to the UBLY Drag strip this Sunday. Ubly is around 1.5 hours north of Warren. You take VanDyke the whole way there.
I hope to get in some solid mid-high 12 second runs. I know the car is capable. Now I just need to get my launches down. I hope the M5 clutch holds up well.

Awsome!!!!! is that the one here http://www.ublydragway.com/ ??

If so I will be there, I have an Estoril ///M roadster , I'm sort of a beginner, is there a chance for me having nice numbers?

Yes, thats the one. I hear that its a pretty sticky track, so 60 foot times should be decent.
I'll have on my stock wheels with S03's. They should be good enough for now.
Where are you driving from? I'm going to follow up some people trailering their motorcycles up from the Warren area. You are welcome to follow if you like.

I ran out of time!! I was installing my sound system and didn't have time to go

EMC
10-19-2003, 10:12 PM
13.00 @ 108 with a 2.1 60ft
13.4 @ 112 with a 2.4 60ft

My turbo gave out on the 13.00 run and I had to let off the gas. The turbine wheel in the exhaust housing blew into a million pieces from a tiny piece of slag or something breaking out of the exhaust manifold.

I'll have it fixed soon. Next season, maybe I can actually get some traction and get a mid 12 second pass.

Oh yeah...and I was only running 6 psi. Didn't even get a chance to bump it up to 8 psi.

Nice times on 6 Psi. Sorry to hear about the carnage but good luck with the fix. W/ 8 Psi (and slicks?) you will be deep into the 12s.

How was the quality of the track and the other racers?

Dave

EMC
10-19-2003, 11:04 PM
There was a little of everything there. Plenty of J-body rice and american V8's. I pulled in a couple of LS1's at the end of the track even though they got the jump on me.

Cars with a 110~112 trap speed like mine were running mid/low 12's when they could hook up.

I've also got some rear camber issues because my car is pretty slammed. It seems that only half or two thirds of the rear tire is even getting used on a launch.
