Ali//325i 04-21-2006, 02:11 PM Philly- I called your shop a few times and it was busy everytime. I was thinking about stopping out becasue i need some advice for my suspension. I also need to get some bushings pressed out and new ones pressed in for my control arm thing. What hours is your shop open i really need to stop buy and check these things out, along with my bumper needing to get painted. Hopefully you can help out.

Gtuni 04-21-2006, 02:30 PM Hi Michigan People!!
I'm new to this forum I found it while doing a search on how to fix my newly aquired BMW. It's not a new BMW, it's a 1985 535i with 213,000 miles. It is my first BMW, so I am as new to this forum as I am to BMW's.
I'd love to meet and greet, but right now I still haven't got the car to get out of the driveway. I towed it in about two weeks ago and got it running, but it won't drive yet.
anyway, I just dropped a note to say howdy Do and Yah hey to my buddies up north.
///MP 04-21-2006, 03:24 PM I'm not in Slo anymore moved out to Ann Arbor for school, just never updated things.
astor 04-21-2006, 04:45 PM lol, what exactly is wrong with your 5er gtuni?
///MP 04-21-2006, 11:29 PM Crap Group project tomorrow, can't make it, but I wanna get out and do something now that the car is back running again, It's scarred of the cold weather.
DSrugis 04-21-2006, 11:36 PM Looks like no one is interested in racing tomorrow so I will probably postpone it till next weekend...anyone interested?
Dave
BoostFed325 04-22-2006, 06:43 AM are you still in SLO?
Check Xceedspeed.com for details for the unofficial BBQ and Cruise in A2 tomorrow
id like to goto that even tho i just found out about it at 643am friday morning haha.
going to call my brother in a few hrs to see if i can crash at his place in shelby township after
Gtuni 04-22-2006, 07:15 AM lol, what exactly is wrong with your 5er gtuni?
Exactly, I'm not sure. LOL It will start and idle rough at first but will smooth out and idle at 1500rpm. If I let it just idle for about 5 minutes it will go into a fit where it will race to about 1800rpm then down to 500rpm continuously.
up and down, up and down. If I step on the accelerator it will bog out, but eventually "catch up". If I don't wait the 5 minutes for the car to do it on it's own, and slightly pull on the throttle it will go into this fit. At one point while it was doing this I pulled the power cable to the ICV off and it stopped it's fit, idle was still high (1500rpm). Once I let it roll down the driveway and tried to drive it back up, but the engine just bog out when I stepped on the accelerator, but if I just let out the clutch then the high idle will drive it back up the driveway.
Does this sound familiar to anyone?
Things I've done. Change oil, spark plugs, Air Mass Meter, various vacuum lines, 02 sensor. Cleaned the ICV, ohmed out the tps, put clamps on some vacuum lines to seal some possible leaks, cleaned the area around the throttle flap?...oh and wrapped duct tape around the air intake boot where there is a slight 1" split in it...LOL , I haven't found a boot yet.
At noon today I'm taking it to the shop...
DSrugis 04-22-2006, 05:13 PM I ended up staying around the house today and doing yardwork but i plan on heading up to Lapeer next Saturday...who is in?
Dave
LittleBlueBMW 04-22-2006, 10:57 PM Maybe I will, although I am not expecting much.
DSrugis 04-22-2006, 11:51 PM Cool Kristin...either way, it is a fun afternoon.
I posted on xceedspeed to see who else is going. Post there if you like and we can maybe arrange a caravan up there.
Dave
LittleBlueBMW 04-23-2006, 12:54 AM how far is it?

Sorry bout that. I've been in and out of town like a maniac. Bring it by anytime. We are open regular buisiness hours. Sorry bout the phone. Some kids love to talk about stuff all day.
We are having our Grand opening get together this coming Sat. Starting at noon. Untill.....whenever. There will be a bunch of our cars we did, plus a bunch of other really nice rides. It should be a good time. Everyone should come and check it out. Its just south of 76th street on Division.
DSrugis 04-23-2006, 08:48 AM From me, about 45 minutes north...you could always meet at my house and caravan from there...I am probably 45 minutes from you too so give yourself an hour and a half to get there. The good thing about lapeer is that everytime I have gone there I could get as many runs in as a want (read 20+)

Ali//325i 04-23-2006, 04:53 PM philly- Cool i'll stop by sometime this week. Maybe i can have the car ready for the saturday opening. Anywaiz, I just need some minor help and just a few minutes to talk about an engine rebuild so i'll plan a day this week to come out.
Matt- I heard you were having some trouble with your engine management unit, as was josh. I talked to him briefly about possibly getting megasquirt for his car and he said you might be interested as well. I talked to a guy who is basically a megasquirt genious and he gave me the basic knowledge to help you guys atleast purchase the right stuff. Its a full standalone type unit, for under like 650, i think that was the final price after everything. let me know if you want some more info.
Hopefully we can all decide on a day to meet/cruise, it would be nice to finally meet some of you guys and see your cars.

LittleBlueBMW 04-24-2006, 12:58 PM We need to all go and represent! Actually it would be nie to see all of you again.
Also check out the auto-x's coming up. There is one May 7th at the DTE music theater that I am going to be in. Sign up and run!
Ralliart 04-24-2006, 04:16 PM I'm signed up for the autox season opener as well. Looking to defend my title in STU.
LittleBlueBMW 04-24-2006, 04:41 PM Are you unopposed? I have that same saturn to deal with. Hopefully my suspension will go in this weekend, finally.
DSrugis 04-24-2006, 06:30 PM Details as to where to sign-up...I may be game.
Dave

signup on myautoevents.com
(Seach for Auto-X's in MI)
DSrugis 04-24-2006, 10:55 PM Ok...I am slightly confused here...2 things:
1) What class would I be in w/ my aftermarket suspension and my 18" Falken 451s?
2) Can I pre-register without owing any money? There seems to be a field for that with $0.00 in the payment column.
Thanks.
Dave
LittleBlueBMW 04-24-2006, 11:02 PM Hmmm...suspension could put you in STU or BSP not sure... Ralliart should chime in on this. I am in DSP because of my wheel width. You should be able to register and pay on site.
DSrugis 04-24-2006, 11:06 PM And what if I register but don't show (rain or something.) Do I still have to pay?
Sorry for all the questions.
Dave
LittleBlueBMW 04-24-2006, 11:13 PM Probably not,but we run no matter the weather.
Ali//325i 04-25-2006, 04:15 PM Philly- Your shop was awesome man. I feel bad they were all running around trying to get it ready for the opening and stuff, but they were real stand up dudes and helped me bolt my suspension up real nice. They also told me to go to automasters to get my bushings pressed out and in to save myself the headache. I will definently be there this weekend, whether its in my e30 or my buddies si. A+ on the shop!
Hopefully everyone in GR will make it out to philly's shop this weekend. The DSMs there were hot, and i especially liked that 240 in there. It would be nice to see everyone there.

Whats your full address? Do you guys have a dyno? How much do you charge for a baseline run?
TireFryer 04-26-2006, 01:32 PM PhillyM5...looks like I might be be able to at least make an appearence at the Grand Opening :D
Address:
7700 S. Division Ave, Grand Rapids, MI (sorry...don't know the ZIP!)
I will try and get another E34 M5 to show up as well ;)
Ralliart 04-26-2006, 09:14 PM Are you unopposed? I have that same saturn to deal with. Hopefully my suspension will go in this weekend, finally.
I'm up against a Subby STI.
If you get the suspension installed I believe you will have to run in STX.
LittleBlueBMW 04-26-2006, 09:24 PM Really, damn. All these rules. The X brace may also bump me. Well I may reclass when I get there, depends on whether I can get the suspension on and still fit the wheels. Rob, did you sell those hamanns? Did you try to fit them after your suspension upgrades?
DSrugis 04-26-2006, 10:33 PM Rob...I take in I am in STX also.
I may still sign-up for this Auto-x but I will be at the inlaws that night (spending the night) and I just signed up for a driving event at Gingerman.
Dave
windsor318is 04-26-2006, 10:37 PM just curious, if you detroit area guys are interested in a meet sometime soon, the weather should be nice this weekend
DSrugis 04-26-2006, 10:39 PM I am going to the drag strip this Saturday...I would love to have some others come to race with me.
Dave
LittleBlueBMW 04-26-2006, 11:40 PM Nope, I am in DSP because of the wheels. The The X-Brace IS legal because it came on all E36 convertibles. Using the update/backdate rule this is seen as a legal modification, so no change to SM.
DSrugis 04-27-2006, 06:53 AM I am I still STX with my aftermarket suspension and aftermarket wheels? They are 8.5 wides.
Dave
Ralliart 04-27-2006, 09:53 AM I am I still STX with my aftermarket suspension and aftermarket wheels? They are 8.5 wides.
Dave
Actually, you would be in STU with me. :D
Kristen,
I did sell my Hamann's a while back. They fit with my suspension just fine. I traded them in for a set of Koseis. With the Kosei's and 255 Yok's I will have to run a 10mm spacer in the front and roll my rear fenders.
LittleBlueBMW 04-27-2006, 10:57 AM Then I also will need a roll and a spacer, damn. Is that 255 around? I have 235 in the front and 255 in the back due to the staggered PG2's.

Sorry for the lack of communication, I've been busy on my schedule. We can definatly talk on Sat. if you are there.
Hopefully most people can make it.
josh.
Ali//325i 04-27-2006, 05:18 PM How many of you guys are actually going to philly's shop this saturday? i am deffinently going any other GR guys wanna go? I don't think i will have my car done though, but I will show up in my buddies si.

I'm going to run 255's all around. You should be fine with just a fender roll in the rear.
I'll trade you my M contours for your PG2's and you won't have to worry about it. :D
Suspence 04-27-2006, 06:49 PM I used to live in okemos and pinckney.
LittleBlueBMW 04-27-2006, 10:03 PM Hmm. wonder what kind of drop I am going to get going from the M sport suspension to the Koni's with H&R sport...
phillym5 04-30-2006, 11:18 AM Thanks for the Beamers that came to the shop yesterday. I think all together there might have been 8-10 that showed up. Most were at different times.
2 E34 M5's
3 E46 M3's
couple E46 3 series
and 1 Badass Turbo M3....
Yeah Matt, good job with your car. Thanks for letting us see it in action.
Anyway...All together atleast 300 cars came through... it was pretty much packed for 13 hours. I left at midnight, and there was still a bunch of cars there. Everytime a group would leave.... a new group would show up.
Anyway....it was good to see the BMW's in a world of import and muscle cars.
BoostFed325 04-30-2006, 01:17 PM Joshes meet at Modified FX was a real good turnout. I didn't show up until about 5pm and there was a good amount of people there
they have a cool place for anyone that has been wanting to check it out
i had alot of fun and i even got to get in some races vs some good cars
Ali//325i 04-30-2006, 03:09 PM Man, I came way too early lol. 2pm there was that really cool datsun turbo and a few other cool cars there. Sadly my e30 isn't done so i didnt get to represent the bimmers but it was still cool to go out there and see the shop and stuff.
I'll be bringing my car into to get a quote for an engine rebuild and possibly a respray with my new body pieces. The best part about the shop was that jay and those guys were super cool and willing to help.
Matt- How did you end up fixing your ecu problem?
-Ali

somehow my chip went bad i really have no idea how, AA just sent another back when i sent in my box
Ali//325i 04-30-2006, 07:28 PM Matt- Glad you got it figured out. Apparently Jones is having some problems with his still, If he ever gets back to me I think I will try to get him talking to some Megasquirt guys to see if it could solve his problems. That is, if josh can find the time to call me back :rolleyes haha.

DSrugis 04-30-2006, 10:27 PM I am going to pass on this first Auto-x but I will sign-up for another...just too much going on next weekend and I will be spending the night about an hour and a half away from the event. Please post other Auto-xs that you will be attending.
I signed up for a track event at Gingerman in July...I give more details if anyone else is interested in going.
My day at the track was pretty good. I couldn't meet my previous ET even though I have an M50 manifold on now but I also had 18s on this time opposed to 17s. The day before was alot cooler and I couldn't get the car to hook up. Good thing was that my trap speed was about 2 mph faster so I know I have more power...fun either way.
Dave
pnyklr 05-01-2006, 12:32 AM any one have a '92 style 3 series bumper laying around they want to sell or get rid off? I have a '95 325I but i like the older sytle front bumper better.
nitestalker 05-01-2006, 10:12 AM BMW CCA brunch runs this Sunday

Ubertino 05-01-2006, 01:50 PM Damnit, I take a week away from the forum, and I miss the opening of Philly's shop. Shit.
Anybody got pics?
LittleBlueBMW 05-01-2006, 10:51 PM Would love to brunch run but I signed up for the auto-X, more details on brunch run.
Ali//325i 05-02-2006, 08:04 PM adam, i called you to remind you about it but we can both see how well that worked out lol. I didn't take any pictures. When i was there i only saw kids with their camera phones taking pictures so I don't know anyone with pics. BTW did you still want to redesign your photography website? I have been itching to do a photographers/artistic website for some time now. Let me know if your interested. I dont think i will charge a lot if at all becasue i owe you still for helping me with my car. Let me know man.
Nightstalker, your cars list says you have an SE-R. I would assume its a sentra SE-R what chassis is it? I have a new 04 b15 spec v.
To all you autocross guys, What are the rules with convertibles? I don't have the money or the time to get a roll bar made for my cabby, and i really would hate to put one in (it kind of ruins the fun of having a cabby) But i would love to do some autocrossing to get used to my car a little better. All the stuff in my sig will be on my car, so i would assume that i am in a fairly tough class. I read through the rules but I dont remember seeing the part about convertibles. Thanks for any help.
-Ali
nitestalker 05-03-2006, 09:37 AM ali,
i have a 91 se-r and its for sale!
http://www.hkmconsultant.com/hkm/sentra.htm
mods hope u dont mind the link, its more for ali to see the car than to sell it here.
i don't think you have to worry too much about classes unless you are very good at it and start to win races, stock class or street touring class should be ok. of course the techs there can help you class too.
LittleBlueBMW 05-03-2006, 11:05 AM convertibles don't need the roll bar, and you can run with the top down
Ali//325i 05-03-2006, 04:04 PM nitestalker, nice b13. Gotta love the sr20de+t . I hear they make good track cars, with the exception of the crazy body roll and understeer...kind of reminds me of the cabby lol.
Thanks for the info guys. Hopefully I can get out to one of these autox's soon so I can learn to handle my car. And that is really cool that convertibles can run with the top down :). If i ever finish my car i will go lol, i really need to finish this stupid thing.

DRC10 05-05-2006, 05:32 PM I love when people bargain with you for an hour and you finally agree on a price. Then you never hear back from them.......
Yes the M is still for sale, this thing is hard to sell for some reason. Most the time I get older men thinking I'm just some kid they can hassel. The low balls they give me are rediculous:mad
Ubertino 05-05-2006, 05:53 PM DRC- post a link for the sale site, or drop us a line on the asking price. I sold mine within 4 hours of listing it, but it was priced to move.
Ali- I'll shoot you a pm about the website. I've got the domain and a shitty workable site up right now, but nothing pretty.
www.maninthehat.net
I'm starting some new arms to the business, still doing photojournalism and newspaper work, but I'm moving more into sport (already there, but expanding my market) and some dedicated portrait stuff. I need to add the sports to the website, and I need a seperate dealie for the portraits. I need to do something with this soon, trying to negotiate with some representation. Anybody that does anything with an agent out there, I could use some advice on ways to avoid getting screwed.
I'm also looking for a cheap beater beemer if anybody hears or knows of anything.
Any meets anytime soon?
Ali//325i 05-06-2006, 03:48 PM adam, heres an idea for your site. It was quick so it can be changed and developed more and the navigation can be flash, blah blah blah. It can have anything and everything you want. http://www.r3vlimited.com/gallery/files/1/0/8/6/6/templatefirstidea_795745.jpg
BTW, I just had prom last night, pretty sweet stuff. Hope everyone else is doin well.

LittleBlueBMW 05-06-2006, 09:46 PM Canned my reg for the auto-X, damn far away, So I hope to show up to the Brunch Run.
I will be at the Firecracker.

Ubertino - There's a link to my add, I think the price is fair considering the others listed are about 12-14k. I was willing to let it go for 10k to a couple people and they never got back to me.
Ubertino 05-07-2006, 04:05 PM DRC- suck. Looks nice, hope that somebody takes it away from you soon...
Ali- I'm going to give you a call in the next few days. I like what I see. We'll have to powpow and figure out some pricing and timetables. Thanks man!
Adam
BoostFed325 05-07-2006, 05:56 PM is anyone going to the xceedsped bbq?
LittleBlueBMW 05-07-2006, 06:16 PM Yes
Ali//325i 05-07-2006, 10:15 PM DRC10- man, if i would have just left my car alone i probably could have taken out a small loan and bought your car. Shitty, ill talk to a few people and see if i can find a buyer for ya. Thats a sweet m3 hopefully you can find a buyer soon.
Adam- Whenever you have time man. You can even call me during school times, my teachers know i run this web design thing and dont care if i take calls in class, we have agreements :D . i also made a small flash intro for the website that you can check out as well. We can go nuts on your site if you like. Price is not really a big deal, i am not in it to get money, i am in it to get my name out there. besides i love photography, so its more for me than it is for you :).
Where would you guys sudgest getting an alignment done? I got my car all bolted up and just need to do my sway bars yet and then i need to take it to get an alignment. I don't want to bring my car to some retarded shop because my car has lots of negative camber now since i didnt buy camber plates with my suspension, so I would like to go somewhere that understands cars. let me know if you guys have any sudgestions.

LittleBlueBMW 05-08-2006, 01:56 PM I installed my koni's and H&R's saturday. So very nice to look at and hard to shake loose on turns.
Zubehor 05-08-2006, 02:05 PM I shall be at the BBQ and i hope to meet some of you. We should have a small parking place for BMW's only :)
Ali//325i 05-08-2006, 04:08 PM Adam- I made a quick flash intro for your website. It can be adjusted and what not but you get the idea of what i am going for. http://media.putfile.com/flash-intro-28 I sudgest you watch it on the 640 view size setting, That is more or less what it will look like. Can't wait to get started man. Hope you like it.
Where is this BBQ you guys are talking about? I might be able to have my car done so i would definently like to meet up with you guys.

LOL, man I must have heard that about 6 times already. Thanks for the help though.
Ali//325i 05-09-2006, 04:51 PM DRC10- Haha, Sorry that must get old to hear.
Man that BBQ is kind of far away from GR, I don't know if i will be able to go. Sounds like it should be fun though. Maybe I will meet up with you guys when we have a closer meet. Like ann arbor or around here. 2hr and 45min is quite a ways for some free BBQ :rolleyes .

DSrugis 05-16-2006, 08:51 PM The MS150 is arriving again this year and again I need donations. I need to raise at least 200 and last year I managed over 600 with the help of XS members (thank you.) This will be the 4th year I am doing it and I plan on riding the 100 miles each day but increasing my average speed. Last year we were around 17.5mph so this year I am shooting for 18.
If you would like to make a donation, you can send me a check made out to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society or you can paypal me. I can also send you receipts once the ride is finished.
I am really not expecting much seeing as if everyone donated 3 or 5 dollars, I would be way over my minimum and would raise a lot of money for the multiple sclerosis society.
I was also thinking that if I don't reach $500 I will start posting pics of me in my bike gear as punishment.
Thank you for your donations and support. It is appreciated.

WOW please bring that to XceedSpeed BBQ. I would love to see that car.
LittleBlueBMW 05-27-2006, 10:29 PM So who is going to the BBQ? We need to have a meet and might as well start with the Xceedspeed BBQ.
Zubehor 05-31-2006, 03:33 PM I have a favor to ask any Michigan locals.
I want to send my Bilsteins to get revalved but I still need to use my car. Does anyone have a stock set of shocks/struts I can borrow for a couple of weeks? I don’t want to buy something that im going to throw away in a few weeks and spend even more on shipping. Let me know.
LittleBlueBMW 06-01-2006, 12:26 PM I actually have a full set off of my 323is. If they will fit your car you can borrow them.
Zubehor 06-01-2006, 03:40 PM I think I just cant hook up the front sway bar links but i can live without a sway bar for a couple of week. Can you bring them to the BBQ on saturday? Thank you.
LittleBlueBMW 06-01-2006, 07:43 PM Yes, I think I can bring them.
m3kindaguy 06-01-2006, 11:21 PM Hey there..sorry for a minnesotan to get into the michigan thread, however i am in need of help. Does anyone here know of David Mcdowell from bay city michigan?? He builds bimmers..mostly z3's. He has had my car for almost 2 years now..our original agreement was 30 days. He wont return my calls...any help is greatly appreciated. Im talking to attornies, but would like to solve this civily and get my car back. Thanks.
roadrace 06-05-2006, 10:25 AM anyone have an airbag reset tool ??
or if no one does anyone else need to use one since I will just buy one myself and then rent it out... thinking like 15.00??
Ali//325i 06-06-2006, 10:07 PM m3kindaguy - Does he own a business of some kind or does he just build engines in his garage? If he has literally had your car for 2 years why didn't you get it back 1 year ago? If he owns a business i can call and talk to him about a website or something and try to talk about what he does if you give me the number. If anything man i would get the police involved and have them get your car back. Let me know if i can help you out.
BTW, Does anybody have any experience with arie nols auto repair? I had a "shop" put my suspension on and then they told me that my car wasnt running right and could barely idle. I get the car back and drive it directly to another shop, wrenchworks, the guy at wrenchworks found that ALL my lugnuts on my passenger side wheel were hand loose, a couple of my spark plug wires were undone, my 02 sensor was hanging around , the sway bar kit that was installed by the first shop WAS LOOSE, Finally my car made its way to arie nols and they are currently installing a new steering rack, aligning my car, and they already tuned the engine and made sure everything was running okay. Just want to know if you guys have experience with arie nols or what you think i should do about the first shop. I am not looking for trouble i just want to know what you guys would do if you went through what i went through. </vent>

sweet poison 06-07-2006, 03:05 PM holly crap, i need to service my e39 540i for the 60 000mi service, they charge $800 for a regular service. ohhh and I bought 3 cars from them. And I was interested in an 2002 745i, it had 50,000mi, and factory waranty till 100,000mi. They said they are selling it for $39,000, I thought it was a great deal, was very interested, and called numerous times about it and all the time they told me it was not done yet for display, and then all the sudden the tell my brother that somebody else sold it while my sales rep had a day off, although I said I really want it. I hate Sharpe!!!!!
Ubertino 06-08-2006, 08:06 PM Sharpe is evil. Antichrist assholes who can't fix anything and so on. Ivana, count yourself lucky- a friend of mine has a '04 7 series, and is now wishing that he had gotten either a 540 or an M5 for less money. Every review I've read about the seven series and the three people I know that own them say they're fun to drive, comfortable as hell, and constantly need work. If somebody gave me one I'd sell it immediatly and use the cash on a tried and tested 5 series beast, like the one that you've got...
And for your service ay 60k, call Euro Autowerks, they'll charge half and actually know what they're doing. In my opinion.
m3kindaguy 06-12-2006, 11:58 PM Any chance someone on here is an attorney in michigan or does anyone know a reasonably priced one i can use to sue the guy who had my car?
Suspence 06-13-2006, 12:32 AM I used to live in Ann Arbor/Pinckney/Okemos/Lansing.
sweet poison 06-13-2006, 07:55 AM UBERTINO- Yeah they are evil and I hate them, I asked them how much they would charge to just put on my m5 trunk lip. They said $175. What for to just peel the paper of and stick it on the trunk, hell no. I did it myself in 2 min. They only thing my car is under certified waranty, I dont know if I have to go to them to keep the waranty, or if I can service it somewhere else and just show the proof for it.
sweet poison 06-13-2006, 07:57 AM Any chance someone on here is an attorney in michigan or does anyone know a reasonably priced one i can use to sue the guy who had my car?
Yeah I know a really good one, he is my attorney to. I will find his phone # and pm it to you later on this afternoon
Foglght 06-13-2006, 07:58 AM So, this past weekend, 2 of my buddies decided to be dumbasses and were wrestling around and ended up denting the hood on the M. It's bad enough where I don't think I can just bump it out.
I live in the Clinton Township area. Anybody have any sugguestions for a good body shop?

I like Autometric in Roseville. All they work on is German.
Ubertino 06-13-2006, 10:33 AM There is no reason why having a different shop perform routine maintenance should invalidate your warranty. I'd read the thing to check, but I believe that it's only when people modify the drivetrain and suspension on the car that the warranty is voided.
Ali//325i 06-13-2006, 02:18 PM Man looks like other people are having trouble with shops as well. Well my car is finally back, sorta, anywaiz it drives amazing and my suspension feels great. Lets just say i've seen quite a bit more sun since getting my car back haha. Is anyone enjoying the world cup?
Adam, i sent you a txt the other day to see if you wanted to meet up again sometime soon so we could sit down and sift through all your pictures and stuff so we can finish up your site.
-Ali
Ubertino 06-14-2006, 08:46 AM Ali- just got a new phone, same number, the txt might have got lost while in the transition. I'm game for meeting, just let me know what your schedule looks like.
Ali//325i 06-14-2006, 12:29 PM adam, I am good to go whenever you want except tomorrow i am heading to the beach. You're more than welcome to come but having a meeting at the beach might get distracting, but then again nothing beats hotdogs and burgers at the beach.:stickoutt In all seriousness I have everyday but tomorrow free. Whenever you can meet is fine with me. Have a good day.

Ali//325i 06-19-2006, 05:29 PM Do you guys know how much it cost for head port and polishing? I kinda am just looking for ballpark numbers so i dont get screwed when i go to talk to the machine shop guy.
BTW, Does a 4th of july sound good to anyone? I am pretty sure everything on my car will be set by that time.

Make an offer... or trade me a 16" wheel (need a pair actually)!!
LittleBlueBMW 06-19-2006, 06:18 PM Yes we need a July 4th thing.
Auto-X this weekend in Ypsi. Rob and I will be there so should all of you.
Waterford Hills went well with BMWCCA but I still have a long way to go before I can run solo.
LittleBlueBMW 06-19-2006, 09:32 PM Also if you are in A2 this wednesday, come to Ann Arbor BMW for the Ultimate Drive. We need porters to move the cars to Farmington Hills. Every miles you drive, BMW will donate $1.00 to Cancer research.
Last year we porters got a free dinner and T-shirt.
More info on www.motorcitybmwcca.org
rirwan 06-21-2006, 11:21 AM LittleBlue,
We met at Waterford, I'm sure you remember me, the one who know your roommate.
Would love to join the Ultimate Drive, but unfortunately, the timing was bad. But if you drop by at Erhard's Farmington Hills, that's just across from my work.
LittleBlueBMW 06-21-2006, 03:55 PM Man, you are all the way out in Farmington? Well they need people to move the cars from that Erhard to the next one. I believe that is Tomorrow for that move.
So how was the track day? Are you coming back for more?
rirwan 06-22-2006, 08:36 AM I think the Farmington Hills Erhard is on Friday, but thinking of going for rock climbing on friday.
The track day was so much fun!! I learned a lot! Definitely would come back for more. Do you know when the next one (beside the O'Fest one)?
Need to straighten out my 18" wheel though. One of them is out of round. I found a place in Ferndale that might be able to do that.
LittleBlueBMW 06-22-2006, 10:17 AM Well we have a 2 day at Grattan in September.
Wheels straightening, I use Wheel Collision in Bath PA. There is also Rim Pro. The place in Ferndale, I have no idea.
rirwan 06-22-2006, 10:43 AM Hey, thanks for the tip for the Rim Pro, they are very close to my work. Might go there instead!!!

I believe you still have to register even if you want to spectate. I had to buy a day pass so I could go to the track day, despite the track event being 150 already.
What is WMHM?

LittleBlueBMW 07-07-2006, 03:18 PM Looks like open passing, kind of a scary thought with so many people, many still beginners. Still a cheap day at the track. The M3's should do well.
DSrugis 07-11-2006, 11:54 AM Well, that driving event was a blast. It started out slow being in the beginners class and I kept getting stuck in traffic but the last 3 sessions were a blast. The last one I was right with an S2000 and didn't really get into any traffic. I am scared that I am hooked now. Pics to follow shortly.

347convert 07-24-2006, 09:29 PM This site is soo big, I figured it would be the best to say Hi in the local area forum. My name is Mike, Im 25 and I just picked up an 88 535i. I plan on buying a E36 M3 as soon as possible. I have allways been a mustang guy and Im getting sick of the quality and I have a had a bunch and still have a 95 gt convertable, Its pretty much a drag racer. I go with a few of my friends to gingerman, or waterford. They are really into road corse stuff and I would like to get more into it, Maybe Ill see some people around.
Ubertino 07-25-2006, 11:11 PM Long time no post for me!
Ali- Thanks for stopping by! I've been enjoying my 2 wheeled bimmer, and am looking for an e30 car to buy in the near future.
I would recommend a meet for the west michigan folks, but with october fest going on, kinda redundant, no?
Dave, it looks like you hade a good time out on the track. I love the pic of the dirty rim. I couldn't believe how dirty my wheels got when I went to a couple of driving schools a while back. I love how much my tire pressure changed from before I went on the track to right after I pulled back off the track.
If I keep looking at your pics I'm gonna start to reconsider selling the M3. I did just pop on bmwusa.com though and see the new 3 series coupe. Twin turbo goodness, though the e36 body is still always probably gonna be my favorite.
347convert, you won't regret getting the E36 M3. It still brings a smile to my face whenever I get on 696 and take the ramp to 75.
roadrace 07-27-2006, 07:37 PM Good shop in the detroit area that wont rape me ???
the M took a big drink of water last night. Had to pull plugs just to get it to turn over. It runs and after chaning the oil 2 times its not turning to a milk shake but..... its got a tick.... sounds like an upper end. I can say that it does not have any loss of power or strange Idle so I am at a bit of a loss.
Now I am more than capable of working on this thing my self if I just had a clue as what it was....:help and I realy dont feel like working on it right now.
Thanks

I live in the livonia/canton area.. around 96 and 275.
If you are going east on 14, and you go under 275 and get off on the 275 north exit.
Stay in the right lane and use the 14 west exit.
Go back under 275, and stay in the right lane again and get off on the 275 south exit..
3 Off/on ramps in a row all within a 1/2 mile. OR you could just go 14 west to 275 south if you are in a hurry.

Where are you in michigan, A friend of mine is a tech at erhard. im sure he could do it.

LittleBlueBMW 07-28-2006, 09:13 PM yes I have ralliart's tool for the weekend.
Goal: roll fender and install rear springs.
347convert 07-28-2006, 09:41 PM I travel between Lansing and Detroit.
I'll ask my friend if he can barrow the tool overthe weekend and maybe meet up in your travels. He works at the dealer that is at 96w and 275.
LittleBlueBMW 07-30-2006, 11:05 PM Thanks for the help Kevin, car is super now,
this thread may help with some of the problems in your engine.

If the car is still warranty get it to a dealer, you may be able to get a new engine (if you bent internals, as is inevitable in a hydrolock)!!!!
LittleBlueBMW 07-30-2006, 11:06 PM Would people be up for a meet after the 13th? I will organize something like wings at BW3's, or BBQ at a park if people sign on to come.

how well did the leatherique work for you? what was your main reason for using it? my leather is quite dry and it has a little drivers side wear, but i dont feel like wasting money on the restoration stuff if its just a little bother.
Zubehor 08-04-2006, 01:01 AM how well did the leatherique work for you? what was your main reason for using it? my leather is quite dry and it has a little drivers side wear, but i dont feel like wasting money on the restoration stuff if its just a little bother.
Mine was the same. Just very dry and hard with minor side wear. The process should not be rushed and MUST be done in hot weather. Mine turned out good but i wish i waited for hotter days. I did mine 2-3 weeks ago when all we had was rain. Look here for some before and after pictures. I think Leatherique is definetly worth it. http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?p=7070371#post7070371
Also if youre seats are black leather i have plenty die left over so I can give you enough to do the seats. You would still need to buy the oil and cleaner.
astor 08-04-2006, 04:08 AM Thats a great thread, thanks mate! Yes, I have black seats, but I'm in Kalamazoo. Would you recommend going through the same procedures as you pointed out in your thread, or would you go through it differently. YOu should have done it this week when temperatures were 97!!
Zubehor 08-04-2006, 04:38 AM The only thing I would do different is to let the seats bake in the sun when you apply the oil, so make sure the weather is really nice 80-90. I think because I didn’t use the sun the seats are not as soft as I would like them, so I’m thinking about doing it again.
If you decide to buy the oil and pristine clean get the bigger size (32oz) and I will chip in a few dollars plus I’ll give you as much dye as you want if you split them with me. You really only need 16oz of the oil and pristine clean. I think the 16oz combo pack is $35 and the 32oz is $55, so I’ll give you the extra $20.
astor 08-04-2006, 08:10 PM Where did you buy the leatherique kit? On Autogeek it is 55 and 75 for the 16 and 32 respectively. YOu don't plan on using the kit again?
Zubehor 08-04-2006, 09:14 PM Directly from their website. I bought the money saving kit that includes: Dye, Rejuvenator Oil, Pristine Clean and Prepping Agent for around $80 (all in 16oz). Like I said I used all the oil and pristine clean because I did them inside the house and I wasn’t getting the results I needed and I kept applying. I only used about 3 oz of the dye for my front seats and the lower part of the rear bench, so I have plenty left over to do mine again and yours twice.

jbeurotech 08-07-2006, 07:16 PM I used to work at a shop in Michigan called Steve's European Auto. They were a great shop and have 4 wheel alignment equipment for bmw I did some custome specs on some BMW's. Check them out tell them Seth Thorson sent ya!! Good luck very few BMW shops in the area. Thier phone is 248-674-2770 Steve Fowler is the owner.
rirwan 08-20-2006, 09:47 AM Would people be up for a meet after the 13th? I will organize something like wings at BW3's, or BBQ at a park if people sign on to come.
Hey, so when are we going to do this? I talked to some people during the woodward, and they are interested to do this BBQ thing.
Zubehor 08-20-2006, 01:07 PM I'm also intersted. Let's do this before the weather turns.
LittleBlueBMW 08-20-2006, 04:17 PM Well the problem is getting money for food at the BBQ... fronting money can be difficult when you have no idea how many people are going to be there.
Zubehor 08-20-2006, 04:31 PM How was it done in the past and approx how many people usually show up?
LittleBlueBMW 08-20-2006, 04:38 PM I have put stuff together before and had people say they were going to come and no one showed. So I am really not up for buying a bunch of food for a BBQ given the track record.
Now going to a place where people buy their own is more appealling.
nmulax 08-20-2006, 05:48 PM yeah... why not do a B.Y.O.B/B. (Bring Your Own Beef/Brew) BBQ
That way everyone gets what they want, and we don't have to worry about no-shows. We can also pitch in a few bucks once we get there incase someone picked up some chips or something.
So when are we going to do this?
rirwan 08-20-2006, 06:47 PM labor day weekend is coming up.. if you don't have any plans
LittleBlueBMW 08-20-2006, 08:40 PM WMR grattan auto-X is on Labor day. Before?

Detroit area would be great but I will drive to pick them up on the west side or even Toledo if I have to.
rirwan 08-21-2006, 12:13 PM I'm in for the BBQ thing, as long as it's not on sept 7 - 17, since i will be going overseas. Anyway, sept 9-10 is the grattan HPDE.

Thanks! But I just got a 1983 528e, no rust, needs some tlc (tuneup, minor suspension work, etc) for $1700. It's pretty- I'll post pics a bit later.
Don't suppose there are any west michigan members with experience doing the timing belt on an M20 engine?
astor 08-22-2006, 02:49 PM Where did you find that? Why did you wanna buy such a cheap car? I'm thinking of selling my 13k 328i and doin the same thing, just wondering what prompted your decision...

its this saturday the 26th
Ali//325i 08-26-2006, 03:25 AM adam, CONGRATS ON THE CAR MAN! You know what would really go great with that car?............ a brand new website of course. I'm all ready to launch as soon as you send me the information I am missing. I emailed you a more detailed description on everything pertaining to the site. My number is still the same so call me or email me when you have some time. Again congrats on the car, now put that expensive camera of yours to work and post some pics :) .
BTW, if any of you guys happen to pick up an e30 i am probably going to be selling my m30afm, 19# injectors, and #173 ecu with chip. The combo is good for about 7-10whp. and the chip lets you rev to around 6900 rpm, no speed limiter, and of course the chip is mapped for 19# injectors and 93 octane (will run on 91 octane though). This might work on your car too adam if you have an m20, but im not too sure if you can use that ecu/chip. Thanks guys.

Ubertino 08-26-2006, 08:43 PM Thanks Ali!
The car is actually my fiancee's- I've still got my pickup truck and my BMW motorcycle. She hasn't had a car for a while, and it was time. And her birthday. Why so cheap- I'm not making payments on a car again for a long long time. Once I'm out of debt, then I'll entertain the notion for something nice. But this car is pretty sweet, needs work but I can do most of it. The only thing with some issues is the motor burning oil, but the car is 23 years old, and I've sourced a couple motors for under $400.
Ali- what was the name of the shop in Holland that did that most excelent work on your tranny? I'll call soon too....
sweet poison 09-07-2006, 09:30 AM Are there any good body shops around Grand Rapids, MI to repair my front. Was at my uncle's house and he has a stone, what the damages are as follows: hood is damaged by the grills (i want to get a carbon fiber hood anyways), then the front bumper pasanger side is scatched up and the underbody has been damaged as well. Need to know ASAP where i can get a pretty decent CF hood for an E39 and where a good shop is to go to. Thanks!
Ubertino 09-07-2006, 10:40 PM if you go to Hansen's, only go to the one on the East Beltline- they'll stand behind their work but unless you got either $$$ or respect it'll take a few visits to get everything sorted out. After my accident with the M3 which was fixed by the Plainfield location, I was in and out 6-7 times to get stuff sorted out. Things like paint dimpling and them using old parts that were warped by the accident. That was my experience with the M3.. I'll call my guy and find out where he takes his restoration cars, my buddy does frame off resto's on old classics, he's got a good shop that he swears by.

I would recomend these guys http://www.nikolasmotorsport.com/index.html
They are very helpfull. They diagnosed my problem perfectly.
Stiff shifting just sounds like the cold weather we are starting to get
Ubertino 10-22-2006, 02:35 PM On all three of my BMW cars and my BMW motorcycle the shifting is stiff right away when the fluid is cold. It passes fairly quick. The thing to be alert for is when the shifting is stiff and the car is warm.
There could be a variety of issues that could lead to cold start, best to post in the e36 M3 section.
