View Full Version : Good price on this M3 on CL....must be a catch.

I'd take it.
:dunno
Edit: This is a lousy deal. I am an idiot for starting this thread. :(
bcart1991 10-26-2006, 01:52 PM It tells you: No compression in cylinder #6...
:confused
dos Santos 10-26-2006, 01:53 PM Not a LTW because it's Dakar and has sunroof right?
Otherwise, good deal.

Funny how I missed that but noted that the window won't stay on track. I'm such a good lawyer!
:laugh

Yeah, I'm pretty sure the LTW's were all white. Edit: It also has stock M3 moldings, not the Motorsport ones.
Good deal, except for the whole blown HG situation.
dos Santos 10-26-2006, 02:16 PM wasn't ali's 95 dakar a non-sunroof car?
bcart1991 10-26-2006, 02:18 PM Coulda been, but there was also sunroof-delete available for non-LTW cars.
That car could be a $1200 head gasket from being nice, or $5k new engine. Tough call without thorough diagnosis.
G. P. Burdell 10-26-2006, 02:26 PM Looks like it will also need new brakes and whatever's needed to clear the Check Control message on the on-board computer.
Someone succeeded in pulling the wool over the seller's eyes if he bought it thinking it was a LTW.
kerph32 10-26-2006, 02:30 PM there are a number of reasons I wouldn't consider that car - the front end has gap problems all over the place (notice that the hood has been lowered so it looks snug over the grille), the driver's side headlight is crooked, those wheels are not to my taste. plus, well... it's a '95 down one cylinder.
but, that's just me. those things can be fixed but they seem indicitive of how the care has been taken care of over its life.
aMiR M3 10-26-2006, 02:50 PM ali's car was a 96 dakar II with no sunroof from factory...

Ah, don't worry. You don't really need a car, since you're living in NYC now. :alright
;)

If that were to happen, Bill would look something like this: :openmouth

BimmerDawg 10-26-2006, 03:27 PM Hot car, but $8,500 is WAY too high for a car tha potentially needs an engine rebuild. Hell, if the engine is perfect, I wouldn't give but $10k for it...:dunno

You are correct! It was mentioned in passing actually. I replied that I owned too many cars and too many guns to live in NYC.

Actually, the sunroof was an option, if you didnt order the sunrood, then you didnt get the sunroof. That interior was also the base/standard interior. Leather was a option. BMWNA ordered all of the 95 production with sunroofs and leather. I had a 95 Dakar, no sunroof but it was ordered, not dealer stock.
Watch out for Dakar 1 in 95, it faded quite quickly regardless of how well you keep the paint waxed, garaged etc. A wash rag would be yellow in 5 mins when washing the car. I spoke to BMW and they offered to cover 50% for a repaint. Several Dakar 1 owners did this. In 96 they changed the paint, Dakar II and I dont think it faded as bad.

I believe Dakar II had a clearcoat and Dakar I did not.
