View Full Version : Problems with 335
Carlson335 10-25-2006, 05:44 PM OK, I love this car. But tonight after work, I get in and buckle up and the freakin seat belt arm falls out for the third time. I suppose its time to take it in and see if the dealer can replace the arm, or at least the part that pops out. It falls out while retracting.
I thought this might be a good time to start a thread on everyone's problems so far. I know there is a cold engine problem that makes the car lurch (I have this also).
What other problems are people experiencing?
twobit2354 10-25-2006, 05:54 PM Never buy 1st yr models :-\ always wait a few yrs to get one
imsambeen 10-25-2006, 06:18 PM sooner or later they will find the fixes. They only thing about first year cars are that they have to go to the dealer a little more often the 1st year. I think it is still worth the small trouble.
KPACOTKA 10-25-2006, 08:12 PM I think it doesn't matter. I have a car 3rd year of production and a lot of problems. BMW is problematic car and we should live with that. I can't say do not want problems buy Lexus, because my Lexus required service not less than BMW and had more serious problems. Actually only one car didn't have problems at all was Monte Carlo. I even didn't change tires and brake pads up to 100,000 miles.
Bring you car to a dealer and ask for nice BMW loaner and enjoy life.
ltflint 10-25-2006, 08:22 PM Bought a 2004 (1st year of 3rd generation TL) Acura TL. Atypical build quality of Hondas I had owned in the past. Lots of rattles, dash has faded from black to almost white, transmission recall etc. I very much want a 335i coupe, but with the TT and this being 1st year of this gen, I am reluctant.

As long as the dealer works with you, the first-year problems can be little more than an inconvenience.
Carlson335 10-26-2006, 06:34 PM Well, I wasn't complaining in the original post. I was mostly wanting to start a thread on what other owners are experiencing and what the fix was.
1st model year may have more issues, but I think its still worth it to be the only person in my area in a 335.
chunjaepoopy 10-26-2006, 08:58 PM i got the lurch at start only once, but i was in a rush to get to work. the seatbelt arm falling out hasn't happened to me yet, but i've been pretty gentle with them (i.e. trying not to yank at them by accident) since i've been reading about the problems on the forums. i'm hoping it won't ever happen.
BrianFoster 10-27-2006, 04:16 PM I've had my 335i 6-speed since 9/22. I do have the cold start lurch, but it clears up once I've gone down the block a couple of houses.
I had a problem with the radio: I have Sirius, a few times I've turned on the car and all my pre-sets are gone. A couple times I turned on the car and it said I wasn't a subscriber. Hasn't happened in a couple weeks so hopefully that is over with.
I love this car!

i think your sirrus issue is with sirrus and not BMW, we've had a few infiniti's with sat radio have the same issue...not a subscriber or their acct isn't activated when it is....so you might wanna find an 800 # for Sirrus
