Just BMW is not the bmw store that is off of 71. It is a privately owned shop that works on every bmw imaginable. My friend actually built the turbo setup from scratch. He has built 3 turbo setups now and knows alot of stuff.

Thanks again. Do these places have knowledge on things other than just routine stuff? I have been contemplating going to Elsens Autohaus any thoughts on them? This is my first BMW and would like to get to know it myself but for now is my daily driver and can't afford to make any mistakes.

I honestly dont know that Just BMW is still open. Last time I drove by there it looked pretty dead. For a while I know that a bunch of Catalytic converters were being stolen out of their lot. Honestly, they use to be very good but they have lost some good people in their company. Last time I dealt with them I about punched the receptionist. Not sure if she is still there but she was annoying as hell and thought I was a naive owner and she knew more than me. Normally I would say its a good shop but it has been on a pretty big downhill slide.

As for good shops. European Auto Specialists in Kenwood is pretty good. Not sure they do much for mods but they are very much involved in routine maint. My dad took my sister's A4 there and was more than pleased with their service and price....saved a lot of money over the dealer.

yea, i can understand where your coming from. Everytime i have been in there it feels like they feel like they are better than me. Just cause i am a young kid(19) but i know my bmws and definately know what im talking about. Overall they do good work but charge about $90 an hour which ALOT. I would never go there but if you have the money then they are pretty good.

Right now I just need an inspection and follow up with the routine stuff that is found from that. I just wanted to go to a place that I could get a good relationship with and that would be knowledgable to the aftermarket so when I am doing the routine stuff that they may recomend upgrades or steer me in the right direction in general. When my wife gets out of school I would like to get serious with things and start rebuilding the car from the ground up. I just want to make sure that nothing is going on with it right now that will cause any issues while I wait for my wife to get out of school (10 months or so). Thanks again. Yes, they are a decent shop. HATE their location though. pretty rough to say the least. They also have a pretty nice 2002 that I see them driving a decent amount (they live right down the street from me). Really I think they can be hit or miss. My dad had a bad run with them on his old 5 series and vowed to never return and I've heard a couple of other stories. Really, I just think there is a real shortage of top notch shops in Cincy.

No doubt. I only went there just for kicks. Would not buy from them. Although they have had some SICK rides up there: Porche Carrera Gt, M5 with full ACS kit, Benz 600 roadster. The M5 went straigt to Toledo but the Gt is a reds player so good luck seeing it around it was nuts.

I believe the GT is actually Griffey Jr's if they said its a reds player....could be wrong though.

I am sure that when you get guys like that at your shop that it is hard not to tell others, but if he asked you not to and finds out it would be a huge loss to the shop. The clerk didn't say a name just that " it is a local car, you might see it around oh the reds stadium". I was like ahh a player and he just shook his head. Oh well it was damn sweet either way so I hope you guys get to take a look at it.

Hope I get to see the GT. I might have to stop up there and check out the shop one day too. I was talking to a friend about it the other day and he said they stock some pretty nice stuff there. However, I probably wouldn't have work done there.

The shop itself is really nice also. I just don't want to assume that because they have nice stuff and nice equiptment that they do good work.
Also I just spent an hour talking with a guy about his Lambo Galardo (it was sweet as well). He was not famous and would like to keep it that way, sure he had some money though.

For suspension work I recommend Performance Alignment on Grooms Road in Blue Ash. Although they install TC Kline suspension components, so if your complaining about the cost it will be worse. Another TC Kline installer is Hatic Tuning (I think they are in the Loveland Area). I've heard a few good experiences on this one.

I've also used JUST BMW and have been fairly satisfied with their service. I like their loan a beater program so I don't have to deal with Enterprise. I've found that they are fairly honest and won't try to sell you new parts if you don't really need them.

In terms of Carrera GT's in the Cincinnati Area. Mike Valentine of Valentine radar detectors has a yellow one. He was at a DE at Putnam park. It was very cool. The rotors seem to be the size of my 17" wheels.

That is great. I wish I would have been close enough to see those 17" rotors. I love the look of huge brakes. It didn't sound like any v10 that I have ever heard before either. It was more like a motorcycle.

Hey guys, I have been busy with work so I have yet to try any of the shops but now I am looking for a beater. Any one have any suggestions on places to go or know any one selling a true beater. I don't want any thing real nice just some thing to let me start working on my M. I would love to stay around $500.00 or so. I would like to find an old truck or blazer or some thing along those lines. It just has to run and be able to cart my two boys around with me.

Sorry I can't help with the beater but there is also carlocators.com on Madison off Plainville. Eric the owner has made a good biz out of much sought after bimmer sales but now is branching into service with an emphasis on mods. He really talked up his mechanic that he persuaded from another shop (engine swap in a day, M3 clutch swap in 2 hours, etc). In the end I took my car to John Gadbury at Just BMW. Yes, very expensive even in comparison to Brett Andersons Koalamotorsport in Cleveland which is pretty much as good as it gets for swaps AND maintenance. I may try Eric's mech though for something else. Eric is one of those very enthusiastic types (read good salesman, drinks caffeine) but very approachable. If nothing else you get to see his e34 M5 Touring in Santorini Blue. Call him at (513)257-7515.

I met Eric @ car locators several months ago when I was looking for an M. Really cool guy. Seemed very knowledgable about the cars also.But he was really expensive on his car prices IMO. Which that's the way he makes his living & I understand that.

Got my car back from Just BMW- almost $750 for a lot of little stuff. Ouch. Plus they acted a little perturbed when I asked for my car back after 6 days (most of which was the Thanksgiving holiday to be fair though). John was cool though.

Don't get me wrong, John Gadberry is very cool. Unfortunately, some of the people he has working for him are not.

There really isnt a ton to say. I haven't gone to his shop in quite some time because of a couple of encounters. His receptionist really ticked me off one time a few years ago as she acted like I was some incompetent fool. He use to have another awesome awesome service guy named John (I forget his last name). Unfortunately he had to leave due to personal and family related issues. I've known John Gadberry kinda on and off since I was about 10 and started going to CCA events, he is a great guy. Just wasnt overly impressed by his staff.

However, of the local shops that I know of...his is probably the best.

I usually go to the local VW/AUDI gtg's. Met lots of cool people local to cinci.Since I still am a Audi driver. Still rockin a 90 v8 Avant as my DD. The M is garaged for the winter.

Since I'm new to the Bimmer scene I don't know if there's anything local specifically BMW's. There's a couple guys that bring their E30's to the meets. One guy Kevin (owner of DTR) tuner shop in Florence is a big bimmer guy also.He drives an 88 e32.

These meets are usually held at the Circuit City parking lot off ridge rd, which is off the Norwood lateral. But since it's getting cold, they've moved them to the BW3's at Rookwood commons. They usually start around 8-8:30 and end around 11 every thursday night.

Hmmm thats right down the street from me. How many cars usually show up? Might have to swing by sometime.

When it was warm out, there was at least 50 car every week!! Mostly vw/audi's, but usually 3-4 bimmers every meet. People don't hate on you just because you don't drive a vw or audi.Everyones cool as fawk.

Now that it's gotten colder, there's usually 10-15 people show up over at bw3's. It being in the 50's this week. they'll probably have it at CC. I'll know for sure tomorrow.

I have dealt with Just BMW once. I only talked to Rob and was happy with the service. I am glad to see so many Cincy people around here. Eric and his crew did a nice job detailing my Ti too. Really worked on the Helrot paint. I recommend them.

When I bought from Eric, it was just him and his brother running it. Both are great guys and definately know their stuff. Eric is a trip to talk to. I wouldn't doubt if they were seeking a new location. The lot they have now is not in the best part of town and it so small and only part of their awesome selection gets showcased. Did he have the M5 Touring out today?

Nah he had the touring at home. They had a beautiful red carrera there and 2 E30 M3s. I was simply amazed that even their detailer is passionate about BMWs. They said the new shop location will likely be very close to the highway for access and in the current area. If I hear anything else from them I'll let everyone know. They did mention that they would keep the current location likely, I assume that would be their sales lot. Regardless, so far I'm impressed. The mechanic even stopped what he was doing on the E30 M3 he was fixing to show me how to fix my seats.

I bought my 1999 323iC from Eric at Car Locators back in September. Real nice guy and very easy to deal with. His brother, Evan, is equally nice as well. I haven't met their mechanic, but I'm sure he knows his stuff. They gave me a great price on my car.

I also recommend Bavariain Motors on Reading. AJ (son) and his Dad (Pat, I think) are really nice guys to deal with. They quoted me the cheapest price around to get some cooling system work done.

I'm currently in the process of finding the cheapest shop to install new front calipers, rotors, and brake pads for me. I've bought the parts online and just need a place to do the labor. Evan at CL quoted me around $220 or so...AJ at BM quoted me a little higher. I might just take it to some Meineke or something and get it done. I imagine any competent mechanic can install new calipers, rotors, and brake pads on a BMW.

I've also checked out an upper-class place called Larry Daniels. I left both times with the intention to never go back. The guy at the counter turned me off and quoted me really high prices. Although the head BMW mechanic and I talked for 20 mintues and he is a really nice guy. He told me he named his kids so they would have BMW as their initials.

I'm definately down for a meet if somebody wants to organize it. Just shoot me a PM.

Well if all I had to change was the rotors and brake pads...it would be a DIY project for me. But since it involves the calipers and bleeding the brake system, I would like a professional to do it right.

I plan to run down and call all the places recommended in this thread tomorrow and have them give me an estimate over the phone. Then I'll get the work done at whichever I see fit.

Well after calling every place recommened in this thread.. Car Locators gave me the cheapest price because I bought my car from them to begin with and they only charge $70/hour labor instead of $100/hour like most of the other places.

Actually Dubwerx is on Wooster Pike (below Rt. 50), off Red Bank at the very end. Didn't know they worked on bimmers- great to know. I think our Passat will go there next as Larry Daniels is expensive and a little haughty. They are however, within blocks of home and my office. I feel very priveledged- within 10 minutes I have Just BMW, Dubwerx, Larry Daniels, Car Locators, Eurocar (?), and the BMW store.

I have never been into the BMW store, just Jake Sweeneys. Is it true that you guys have an M1 down there?

About the BMW Store- I was impressed by the humble beginnings and the early adoptor enthusiast attitude the owner perportedly has. However the preowned salesguy who did not offer a test drive of the e46 Imola ZHP did not warm my heart. Kind of gave me the brush off, maybe because I first inquired about wagons. I'd actuallly like to drive an e90 wagon too.

We can and do some aftermarket mods to car. A member on this board "Wolverine"??? go his 3.91 diff put in his E60 M5. A tech by the name of ryan has worked on many supercharged e36s. Also my friend and his dad started a shop off 275 after milford called Rstyle. I think the exit is Ward's Corner. This is where i bring my car to work on because im friends with everyone that works there. We have 2 lifts, Tire Press/Roadmaster, Welder for custom exhaust, and also a Dyno. We are currently working on a custom turbo job an E30. If you want any info on this shop shoot me an E-Mail (mkbmx@yahoo.com) and i can give you plently of details about it.

Yes it is! The owner Tom has it. It really is an awesome looking car. Also has a e36 M3 with i think 10,000 miles...

Also about Car Locators, they are awesome people IMO. One of my good friends is their detailer and does a really good job. It is also where i bought my 3.23 Diff for a good price. Anyone driving by BMW Store needs anything stop by and ask for Mike in Parts.

Also, is your buddy Doug. I think that was his name. Cool guy. Offered to grab lunch for me when I was simply stopping by to meet everyone. I will not lie that I was impressed with the guys there. Offered to help locate any type of car.

Finally, the M1s. I have seen Tom's M1 down there before. Back in the days before the Mini Store the upper floor of the showroom was filled with classic cars. I believe there was a pristine 320, 2002, M1 and I think there were more. He use to have a bodykit on it but sold it to the other Cincinnati M1 owner. Yes there are two M1s in Cincy (soon to be 3). In addition to a Grp A E30 M3 racecar and Factory 320 racecar (which has been at the Concours dElegance in Ault Park in recent years).

I need to stop by & see Eric & his bro. When I was looking for an M3,I stopped down their a few times & BS'ed with them. At the time I had a stg3 A4 that I tried to trade in on one of their M3's. But they wouldn't give me what I wanted for it. So I ended up trading it to Bimmerfreak on here for his 98 Vert M3.

Yeah i was talking about Doug. Drives that loud E30, used to have a GTI and a TT. Dhabes, yeah just ask for me, what exactly are you looking to buy? We really should get together, are their any bimmer meets around here? Have never really been the go to random car cruise in type of guy, but i think it would be cool to meet up sometime.

The place to go is actually Deweys every second (i believe) Wednesday of the night. They go to the one in Harper's Point. That is the local club meeting. If you sign up on www.buckeyebmwcca.org you should get automatic notifications of all meetings.

Maybe I'll try to contact the local heads and see if we can organize some sort of get together to check out everyones cars. Right now it is simply meetings where everyone can chat, discuss upcoming events, and take care of housekeeping stuff.

As for Doug's exhaust, when he left to go on his food run...Eric just looked at me and shook his head while laughing. I heard his setup is quite....legal :shifty:

Finally, I'm not really ordering anything big. Just some minor little things like throttle cable clips.

A good friend of mine, Robert, works at Just BMW. The facility isn't as impressive as The BMW Stores, but they got my dad's brakes done for a whole lot cheaper. I'd reccomend them.

My dad usually take his car (E46 M3 Vert) to the BMW Store, as that's where we bought it from new. They are very nice, and go out of the way to help us.

I looked at a E30 at Car Locators. Eric was a really cool guy. His selection was very nice. Apparently he even wrote his thesis on BMW's. The car was more expensive than I would've liked, but had I been buying a more expensive car like an M3 or something, the extra money would've been worth it considering how high quality all the cars are.

My dad's car is actually going in tomorrow to get a seat cover replaced under warranty. It's a 2002 M3 TiAg vert with IR interior.

Yeah I rode in Eric's (Car Locators) detailer's E30 with a chopped up exhaust/muffler or something. I forget his name but it might have been Doug. He drove me down to Mariemont to kill a few hours while they worked on my car. He's a nice guy and knows how to detail cars that's for sure. His exhaust is loud as shit! It's so loud you really can't hear the person sitting next to you talk when he gets the revs up.

Wow in Maderia, where at there? I pretty much used to live there and never saw any garage like that. I used to go to Chequers, it was a bar/garage, to work on my older Firebird. That was the only garage i thought to be close to Maderia. I would love to stop by sometime being i drive through Maderia so much.

I'm gonna guess it's on Camargo Road. I've seen a large white trailer with telltale marque and slogan on it, fenced in. Am I right? No obvious shop but a trailer like that implies a certain devotion. No wonder my Ti gets happy around there. :redspot

It is usually just hot rods, classics and other customs. Plus there are usually some celeb types. Usually a Bengal/ Reds player or Nascar or other type of driver signing autographs and such. I have never been and have zero interest in going. I don't know if any exotics are there, but I don't see why they would excluded.

There is really a little bit of every thing there. You will find any thing from diy civic's with lambo doors to classics. I heard that one of Foose's riddler winners is supposed to be there. There is normally more bad than good. I still go down just to get out and see what is going on. The best exotic last year was a black Ferrari 430.

Hello All:
I just moved to the Nati. I live downtown trying to get my 94 e36 converted into a track car, doing most of the work myself in the garage of my condo (haha), but I am in need of diagnostic work and I really don't wont to go to the stealership if at all possible. The car is an absolute dog below 3k rpm, no lights on, but it is clear something is wrong.

So, who would you guys reccomend for diagnostic work in the cincinnati area?
