I know the cars are different..4door vs coupe....AWD etc....but....
I own both an Audi S4, and a BMW 330 coupe(wife car). I have an RS4on order that comes in less than a month. The S4 will get traded. THe RS4 is a incredibly fun, fast car to drive. If you have not driven it...you must. Now, THe new M3. Of course I have not driven it. From the posts it will be pushing over 400hp, and if anything like the current M3, I am sure it will be much quicker than the RS4, as well as handle better. If I keep the RS4, the first mod it gets is stasis...However, the last thing I want to do is dump 73k on the RS4, only to have the M3 embarres(sp?) it on the street, and I imagine be about 5k cheaper once you add in all those options. I like the AWD, but also have an SUV for those shitty days. What do you think the m3 will turn the 0-60 and 1/4 mile times?? also thought about the 335i, but have to say my current v8 S4 is more fun and a beter ride in my opinion, let alone the RS4. I know it can be modded like the old B5, or almost as mod happy of a platform. However, it just did not seem as stable, or throaty on the road. a great value and an incredible car for the money..a big one up for BMW engineering
oh....Bangel designs....so far i do not like the images of the M3.. AT ALL.....

i hope that one day i can be in a situation where i get to choose between and rs4 and an m3 but besides that i would just go with your gut, sure the m3 might be faster but i dont think that should be the biggest factor, choose the one that fits your lifestyle the best.

the rs4 will more than likely be as fast, if not faster than the new m3. this is pure speculation but since the b5 s4 can beat an e46 m3 i'd assume that the rs4 would more or less blow its doors off. the new m3 will probably be a good match as far as pure speed goes but for my money (though i am only 16 so i'm probably at least 20 years away from either of these cars) i'd get the rs4 (though i would like the dsg tranny since it would be faster, you manual guys can eat me out if you's like i dont care).

I would wait for the new M3. The RS4 Track records are just decent for the price of the car.

Wow....you suck. :confused Please read a little more, the rs4 compared to the e46 is not even blowing its doors off. So how do you think the e92 M3 will fair against it.

My RS4 is due 1/07 and I'm not sure if I'm going to take delivery...

I was originally planning on supercharging my RS4 but I'm not sure if anyone is going to make a production kit...I know MTM is working on something but speculation is that if they do make one it will cost around $25k...

gotcha. And yeah trade that s2k in...ive seen them both run in the mountains, and the s2k is a toy compared to the e46. You'll be happy, (and i'll be jealous)

B5 S4 gets beat pretty bad by the E46 m3, the B6 S4 wasn't even as quick as the E46 M3. Good try though ;)

I'd get the bimmer...RWD, less weight, plust its a BMW..It'll be more fun to drive.

Don't decide yet. Wait till you have driven both cars and pick. I assume you are "old" enough to know that it's better to wait off and not regret your decision than get it now and have a regret later.

On the hand, I don't think you can go really wrong with either cars..

I have driven an RS4 and all I have to say is that it wasn't very exciting. A ZO6 or an Exige S would be a better choice for performance IMO.
