View Full Version : 2003 x5 4.4 squeeky tail gate!!!!! x544green 10-23-2006, 01:40 PM I have a 2003 X5 4.4 with a squeeky tailgate.....seems to be the lower door not the upper glass. Only makes noice when closed, if I drive with the tail gate fully opened the noice stops! Any advice would be much apprecited! x544green 10-24-2006, 11:44 AM Got my own reply! I wrapped about 2.5 inches of black electrial tape around the left and right tailgate latches bolted to the body...when the lower tailgate swings up and clicks into position it is a much tighter yet functional fit!!! NO MORE RATTLE!!!!!! Bimmer9938 10-24-2006, 11:47 PM Sure its not the rear sway bar links? Had noise from rear of cabin/tailgate that was driving me crazy... 3 visits to dealer before they replaced the latching mechanism in the lower gate door...Eureka!
