Hey guys need your help. I have a 04 M3 with water spots on the bumper and smal swirls, I had a guy compound them out, But I do not want to pay him again to do it. I spent 350.00........ So what can I do? Where can I buy a orbital polisher? Do I need one? How do I get the water stains out and swirls?
HELP
hinzm3 10-22-2006, 09:44 PM www.scottwax.com his name is scott have him do it atleast once and you'll be able to maintain it after that . does AMAZING work and it will probably about 80-100 for the exterior only
hinzm3 10-22-2006, 09:50 PM if you wanted to tackle the job yourself go to www.autopia.org and start search for waterspots/swirls. You can buy a porter cable for around $150 I think. Products will probably cost you around 35-40.
luckytopher 10-22-2006, 10:28 PM $119 - best price on a PC7424 - http://www.coastaltool.com/cgi-bin/SoftCart.exe/a/port/7424-polisher.htm?L+coastest+mfqh3654ffaaabaa
or you can get a 'starter kit' from steve@tropi-care locally - http://www.tropi-care.com/contents/en-us/d17.html#p176 $160
Total Building 10-22-2006, 10:58 PM Is it hard to use this the porter cable?

hinzm3 10-22-2006, 11:13 PM its not hard but trust me you would like the results you get from Scott detailing your car once. then its easy to just keep it up. If its hard waterspots you'll def need a porter cable.
Total Building 10-22-2006, 11:17 PM I have already spent money like $350.00 to detailwerkz.com
I want to try it myself and get it done. Yall know how picky I am....

Michael-Dallas 10-23-2006, 10:35 PM Lowes has the Porter-Cable 7336SP for $119. I ordered my velcro backing plate and pads from Meguiars.com.

luckytopher 10-23-2006, 10:40 PM 7336? isn't that a sander?
the 7424 is the polisher you want....
luckytopher 10-23-2006, 10:40 PM fyi, since it hasnt been mentioned in public... a vinegar/water mix will work wonders for waterspots...
Michael-Dallas 10-23-2006, 11:09 PM 7336? isn't that a sander?
the 7424 is the polisher you want....
Same product, just different counterweights, branding, and accessories (http://www.coastaltool.com/cgi-bin/SoftCart.exe/a/port/skinny.htm?L+coastest+lghb2769ff284028+1161678879) .
I bought a 7424 a couple of years ago from Lowe's for $110, but it came w/ sanding plates. I ordered a velcro backing plate and the foam pads from Meguiars.com. Lowe's doesn't seem to carry the 7424 anymore.
