I have driven this stretch of Hwy numerous times. However, this last trip to Austin was the first time since the speed limit was raised to 80. Is it just me, or are the cops out in force on I10 now? The V-1 was going off nonstop and I had to keep it at about under 85 in fear of a ticket. Before, there were very few cops and I could set the cruise at 100 and the V1 would go off maybe once every 2 hours...

How far west on I-10? News to me its up to 80. Havn't been on I-10 in about 2 years.

I have noticed Texas making some good changes to the highways so I guess that allowed them to raise the limits. On I-20 they have added a middle wall from Dallas almost all the way to Louisiana (still building it) and added lights at almost every off ramp. The good kind thats about 100 ft tall.

Yup. Once they raised it to 80, there was fear in law enforcement, that, as usual, everyone would do 10 over.

As you know, most drivers, and most vehicles, are inherently unsafe at 90 MPH...

I left SA at about 7:00am on my last trip to El Paso and didn't see any HP.
On my return trip, I left at about 9:00am and only saw one HP.
1,000 plus miles and only one trooper.

80mph speed limit ftw:buttrock

I ran that same trip at 80-90mph and saw not one 5-0 until I was almost in El Paso. But once I was like 30 miles outside the city I saw 6 or 7 with cars already pulled over. BTW 55 seems crazy slow after doing 80 for 6 hours.

Me and my buddy were doing about 80-85 all the way back from Anaheim to el paso.

Hurray for raised speed limits!
