I went for a drive today, and when I got out there was steam coming from under my hood. I popped the hood to find coolant ALLL over the place. Once the steam subsided, I started poking around and discovered that a hose had broken off of the aux water pump. So, if anyone who has a parts car laying around has one of these that isnt broken, please send me a pm with a price. List is about $160 new from real oem. The hose that broke is the one that is on the end of part 1. It broke off right at the base. Thanks guys!

I just had the hose break off exactly where yours did (figure 1) 2 days ago and I had no heat inside the car and the engine temperature was getting critical.

Costed me $218 for the pump and another $180 labor + anti-freeze. I would do it myself if I had the time but since they had the part in stock and I didn't want my car over heating, I had to "pony up" the dough. It looks like an easy DIY job.

You can bypass it (I currently have it bypassed). Heat works fine without it, I think it only functions during a limited window of time.

Just take the hose (from the end that broke off) and connect it to the spot on the heater valve where the output from the pump connects. Works like a charm until you can get the part (which is $114 from BavAuto).

Get it from Vines Auto in Alabama or Strictly German in Georgia. I got mine for $40 3 years ago when mine broke.

Christ, do I ever feel like I got bent over with no lube after hearing these prices... ;)

Sounds great! Thanks guys. I'm buying a used one from Kesslerbmw who is parting a car. For now I think I might bypass the pump so I can get around if need be.
