I've got serious problems. First of all, while getting something fixed at a local shop, I noticed the transmission mounts are no good. On one side, the mount is broken and on the other side the actual aluminum tab on the tranny itself is broken with the end piece tab still conneceted. I am wondering can the tab be welded back on (aluminum weld) or can the back end of the transmission housing be replaced.. 0n my steering box I have a slight leak I cant prove it's exactly the cause of the leak(small) but there is a little bit of play. Like about an 1/4 of inch of play. Please help me i need guidance in the worst way. TIA

First of all, go to www.BMWE34.net and read it like it's a bible
There is a section on steering play, and I have fixed this easily in my car... it is possible to tighten it SO much that it is actually harder to turn the steering wheel... but response is immediate!

Steering systems leak, the only way to fix them is tighten/inspect all the hoses and replace the ones that 'seep'. Other than that which is obvious, I know nothing of the condition of your steering system.
Your tranny tab can be welded back on, I've seen it done.
Replacing the rear housing sounds expensive.
Order your trans mounts from someplace like www.autohausaz.com they are cheap.
Hope it helps! Let me know if you need anything else.
