Sounds pretty cool. JesterBMW 10-21-2006, 11:00 AM yep. aside from the rattling ;) atl530i 10-21-2006, 11:40 AM They aren't in the sides or tailgate? It would probably sound better firing at you instead of at the floor. Unless they are over the back seats. IamCatman 10-21-2006, 01:03 PM I was just looking at the dash speakers in my '95 Touring and I swear they look closer to 2". The might have a c/c measurement of the mounting holes of 3.5" ...but most speakers are measured at the outside of the surround. >^..^< angrypancake 10-21-2006, 01:05 PM I want a touring :( lol attack eagle 10-21-2006, 07:55 PM Best thing you can do for the rear roof speakers is take em down and add a layer of sound deadening to the roof skin. I was a bit shocked when I realized there is no sound deadening back there at all. Helped with road noise as well, and got rid of the roof vibration and buzzing. Also they don't seal up to the mounts either, there is about 1/8 inch gap all the way around them... I only wish my front midbasses would work continuously instead of every once in a while when the stars align correctly... It's not as terrible when they do work as it is without them! atl530i 10-21-2006, 09:08 PM Hmm. I'd take off the kick panel and fix that :) When you get the time though. attack eagle 10-21-2006, 09:28 PM Not much personal time for me anymore... guess you read my sig... thanks for the congrats. atl530i 10-21-2006, 09:45 PM :) attack eagle 03-26-2008, 01:08 AM I was disconnecting the rear tweeters in the touring today, and they are only 1" and separate from the wonky grills. It was bugging me that shifting the fader around also changed the tweeter level since they fire directly at the windscreen, and they really do the rear passengers 0 good Much better now with just bandpassed midranges as rear fill. and I also testfitted an MB quart 6.5 mid... it fits fine, you'd just lose the OEM grills, having to use aftermarket ones, and you'd have to redrill the mounting screws... if only it was that easy to 6.5 the front that means they are exactly the same as the sedan... 5.25 x4 1" tweeter rear, 3/4" super tweeter front, some oddsized mid on the dash. |
