View Full Version : Bumper Gap - M-tech
kaptom540 10-20-2006, 02:38 PM Guys
need your opinion ... I have installed an M-TECH bumper ... As you will see on the photo there appears to be some gap between the bumper and fender. The bodyshop indicated that the rubber seals that are on the bumper doesn't allow up to go any further. Plus if he does, it will rub on the front part of the bumper near the grills ...
What do you think ???
e39dream 10-20-2006, 02:54 PM theres a "perch" on each side near the wheelwell right under the bottom front of the fender, they are adjustable to some extent. The bumper slides over them to secure onto the sides of the car. If it really bugs you take it back, or take off your tires and wheel liners and loosen the fasteners on the "perches", line it up how you like it and tighten them back down.
edit: it looks fine as it sits though.

JetBlk530i2002 10-20-2006, 03:33 PM Hard to tell for sure from the photos but looks about right. The gap will be due to the rubber seal on the bumper lip. do you yave any close up pics? I don't know how to post pics here otherwise I'll show you mine so you can see.
BTW, don't forget to post pics after you installed your M5 mirror. How is it coming along? About to order mine soon.
e39dream 10-20-2006, 03:37 PM they may have already made the adjustments I wrote about, theres only so far you an move the things in the slots.

kaptom540 10-20-2006, 04:41 PM while we are looking at bumper gaps how about my rear bumper gap .. in you opinion does the gap look fine? There appears to be a slight gap by the corner near the fender but I can live with it. I will take a close up photo and post.

That looks fine/normal since there's no direct support under that bumper area. mine is the same.
No muffer for the M Tech yet?

At least that is one thing I don't have to worry about!
98M3_4 10-20-2006, 06:03 PM Front and rear gaps look normal to me
drw1926 10-21-2006, 09:28 AM Same here...looks fine to me. They aren't supposed to be flush. Maybe what your bodyshop meant was the perches were already adjusted up as high as they would go?
Anyway, don't worry about it. They look great. Oh yeah, and get an M-tech exhaust tip soonest. :D
kaptom540 10-22-2006, 10:51 PM Okay ... here is a close up photo ... let me know what you think? Thanks ...
flocker92 10-22-2006, 11:00 PM oh jeez ... that doesn't look right o.O
jonmcc 10-22-2006, 11:17 PM the rear bumper looks great, the front needs a little attention. youre right, that gap is way too big. when you have that corrected the front will look just as perfect as the rear...im jealous :(
