Hi All..

I thought i'd jump in here with the results of my Headlight Glass cleaning efforts with the Meguiars PlastX as mentioned in the forum on a number of occasions with the dreaded gloomy headlight glass problem..

The stuff is nothing short of astonishing. I spent around 30 mins or so on each unit and really the change is almost beyond belief. I know 'ottakringer' (sorry cant post the thread link) had good results with it a few days ago and that prompted me into sourcing it here and spending the time to try and revive them. See pic below..

They may not be quite like brand new, but it's a very close second and well worth doing.

Regards
Steve.

Yep. Fantastic work. I might get around to cleaning out the inside of my headlights sometime tomorrow but don't hold me to that. I'm excited about the possibilities :)

I did the plast-X tonite and agree it is well worth doing. My lenses have 100K of use and now look like they have about 30K after only 15 minutes per lens.

Well it's certainly a good option for those who may not be able to replace the units for whatever reason, lack of funds in my case atm, and the result is good enough to make it look like it should. Mine had 10 years of wear and tear on them which took its toll but this job has revived them almost completely :-)
Ok so it's not angel eyes and i'd love to have those, but this is a great short term fix..

Will that shine last or do you have to add the plastx weekly to maintain the shine? I did mine 2 summers ago and it got worse. Ih ave to add the compound for it to look clear.

That's a good question, and i'll have to come back to you on that after a few days or so with the answer. I hope it lasts a while. I dont mind redoing it from time to time as one does with polishing but we'll see..

Use a finisher that is included with the headlight restoration kit. This will reseal the healdlights and make them look even better. In a post That I just did use the headlight resotation kit at Adavanced Auots (there brand). This will remove the chips and some of the major oxidation. Then use the plast-x and finish them with the sealer. I hope this will hold there shine better.

Ah right. Do you have a product name for the sealer you've used so far?

It is the Sealer that I use was in the advanced auto kit for headlight restoration.
