First off, great forum. I came here knowing very little and already I have learned alot. I started with the E46 thread about things to know before buying parked up top. Excellent reading.

So now I know what to look out for.

I am looking for an older bimmer at this point. Sadly in an auto. (The wife can't drive a stick) I saw a 2000 323ci for sale at my local Euro shop where I had a PPI done on my 911. It was the owner's, wife's car and he wants 13,900 for the car. Not sure of the mileage, but I know the service was kept up. Does that sound like a fair price given what you know of the car's value and if the miles are not above or too far above average for the year?

I really like cars. Too much so. I don't want to spend too much for a vehicle that is really meant to subsidize our garage, but at the same time, I want something decent. I'd rather spend that much on an older/used German car than a newer just-about-anything-else. Even taking into account the need for maintenace beyond 3k oil changes.

I have had only one other BMW - a Z3 that I did not know that much about really and only had a short while before moving on to something else. It was fun with the 3.0, stick, but just not my style.

With a baby on the way, I would really like to find something around 13k or so in decent shape that will last us a few years. Does this sound unreasonable? I would have not thought so until I saw the e46 I already mentioned.

So what do y'all think? Any good places to look to buy? Keep in mind I am limited to the auto.

Thanks in advance,
Phil

With all those "jutsifications" and the baby coming things, shouldn;t you be looking for a 4 doors? or a wagon ?

Anyway.... on the surface $13900 sounds high for a 00 323... but you gave no info to go with anyway....

have you looked in craigslist.com?
I looked just now and there is nothing. Don't look in there.

Sorry, I don't really know what "justifications" you are talking about other than us having a baby. And listed above in our cars area is the Envoy my wife drives primarily. I want to stay in an auto though just in case the time arrose where she would need to drive the car.

Agreed. I need more info the car.

Yes, bud. Checked craigslist, but that site is just not too helpful for those of us listed in lesser populated areas. I checked Dallas, but nothing really popped out. Will keep up the search though. I would even consider a salvage title if the price was right and the car checked out during after a PPI.

:woot: We would need a little more information concerning the vehicle you're looking to purchase. How many miles on the odometer, what types of packages are presently on the bimmer. Generally speaking a 2000 323i is only worth approximately $12,000 dollars unless it has special features. Bottom-line whats makes this vehicle worth more than book value? Can't give you a good answer without sufficient data input. Get back at us with some additional information...
