1998 BMW M3 Coupe – 66,500 Miles, Alpine White, 5 speed, Mulberry Interior, Vaders (power, heated), Sunroof

$16,500

I purchased this car in April of this year from a BMW enthusiast. The car was maintained by Don Field’s at Mr. M Car. Don is a well-known and respected BMW mechanic. Prior to purchase I had a PPI (Pre Purchase Inspection) performed by Don. Compression and cold leak down tests were performed, which reported “stunning” values as quoted by Don. I love the vehicle, which is in great shape, however the timing of the purchase was not very well planned on my part. My wife and I had our first child in April, and prior to that I started a new job in February. The combination of the job and child has won the better part of my time, and I hardly get any time to drive the car. I commute by train during the week and walk to my LIRR station, so the car does not see anything but sun on the weekends. Depressingly enough, I have only put on about 500 miles since April. Enough of my sob story, here are some goodies the car comes with:

-TC Klein Smart Design D/A Coil Over System – Compression, rebound, and height adjustable
- Car was corner balanced at Mr M. Car and I haven’t adjusted the suspension since.
- Euro oil cooler with braided hose assembly
- JC Shark Injector
- Brand new Hawk HPS pads all around, Brand new Euro Front Floating Rotors, Brand new stock rear rotors
- Stainless steel brake lines
- New Kuhmo MX tires (1 Auto X on them)
- Turner Motorsport CF brake cooling ducts
- 3.46 LSD 40% with 3 clutches and max friction plates with Rogue engineering finned diff cover
- Rogue Engineering DMS dual muffler exhaust
- K&N FIPK
- X brace
- Euro Clear Lens Set
- Stud Kit

Maintenance:
All major fluids changed to synthetic/ high performance.
Transmission serviced; changed oil and cleaned-inspected & lubed 5th lube gear detent pin per TSB, new pilot bearing, pressure plate, release bearing.
Oil changed every 2500 miles with Mobil 1 Synthetic Oil by previous owner. I put Castrol Syntec 5w40 upon receipt of car.

Paint is a 9/10, interior is an 8/10, mainly due to a worn and cracked drivers bolster. Leatherique is a good, cheap option to restore this. Carfax reports one accident. The drivers side front quarter panel was replaced from a fender bender in a parking lot in 1999. No sign of body work, paint/body/gaps look perfect. The airbag light is on in the dash. The code was read which revealed a broken drivers side belt latch assembly. A new one will be provided with the car. I never got around to installing this. This is a very common part to go bad on these cars.

I will also add that when NYS DMV sent me the title to this car, they made an error on the mileage. I bought the car with 65,800 miles, and they mistakenly wrote 68,800 on the title. The car only has 66,300 on it right now. I have the bill of sale from the previous owner that shows 65,800. Don Fields could also support that this is the actual milage. There is no foul play going on, but I wanted to disclose everything. VIN # provided upon request.

actually its only just a little above kbb.com value. Which if he was going by what some people think it should be 5-6k above that value, which is kinda funny but whatever. Nice car man, just wish you were local.

I feel the price is right for a buyer lookng for a reliable, street/auto-x/driving school car. The car has $6,000+ in functional mods. I bought it because of the way it was modded instead of finding a clean stock car that would need to go through the wave of aftermarket mods to get it up to what I feel is track dependable.

Jesus, that's impeccable. Wish you were local, damn. This should sell VERY quickly. If you were local, I'd buy it and worry about selling my Cobra later, haha.

EDIT: Didn't see the accident note. Oh well.. still a damn good deal. :)

Wow, gorgeous car. I wish I had found a deal like this when I bought mine two years ago.

Would you be interested in trading the suspension for stock suspension + cash??

This is the car when I bought it. As you can see I put some time and effort into making a great car even better.

If the price was a little lower and there wasnt the little issues with the mileage and accident, I would be a little more interested. Looks clean, nice mods, and I like the mulberry interior!!

Perfect car. I love it. Do not deviate from the 16500 price as it is worth every penny. I can also tell people that this suspension is amazing!! I have been on a track with this suspension and wow.

Great car :buttrock

I'm confused as to why you think you've added $1500 to the value of the car. New tires, anything else? Maybe I'm not reading carefully enough. I am very interested and I am in the region.

The mileage isn't what I would consider an issue really. I could have just driven the car through the 68.8K and it wouldn't have to be mentioned, but at the rate I'm driving the car it just doesn't make sense to hold out.

As far as the accident history, yes, this car is probably not the right car for someone looking for a concours car, but then again, this is already the case as it's got aftermarket work. This car, as it did for me, will appeal to someone that has the track in mind and discounts body work where no trail was left.

While the car was not driven much, significant time/effort went into further improvements. I'm a perfectionist and wanted to continue to improve a great base. The car needed more than was disclosed from the previous owner. I replaced a number of the front under panels that were ripped/loosley secured. New, like 300 miles old, euro floating rotors front/oem rear. New with 300 miles Hawk HPS pads. Tires as you mentioned. OEM clear lens package. Color matched fog covers. New OBC. Selt belt latch provided. K&N FIPK. It's probably around $2000 worth of items I invested into the car. I also have a new Bear radiator, t-stat, water pump I may include too as I never got around to overhauling the cooling system.

Not surprising considering how nice this car is. It's a shame you couldn't hang on to it. :(

It's funny how you get interest when a car is potentially not available. Since I have gotten some emails, I wanted to let people know the buyer has to line up financing and already said to me he might have trouble. I will update the post is this falls though.

Additionally, I threw in the radiator/H2O pump/t-stat in the deal.

Dude I wish, I'm not in a position to have a museum piece unfortunately. Between my wife and I we have three cars and I hardly drive either of the two I call my own (the ///M and a Grand Cherokee). I am selling both of these cars to raise capital for a 330i ZHP.

Speaking of, anyone want a 2004 Grand Cherokee Freedom Edition V8 H.O. 33K miles - showroom condition? Perfect tow car for a BMW:) :) :)

CAR IS STILL FOR SALE!!! The guy couldn't get financing together and his parents were not down with lending him - whatever the story is I told him I'm not waiting around and if things changed we could talk.

That being said, back on the market. From the post above, what other pictures are you looking for in particular? I can take pictures of anything you want really, that's all I have right now.

Could you please post pics of the drivers seat (side bolster in particular)? Also, I'd like to see any angles for the quarter panel and driver door where the accident was.

Much obliged.
