View Full Version : Winston Salem - Where to take pictures?
slowcheetah 10-09-2006, 01:33 PM Just got done Zaino-ing the hell out the car, went out downtown last night thinking I could probably get a cool backdrop with the Winston Towers/BB&T building or something. I never really found a spot that had adequite lighting for a good photoshoot without setting my shutter to something rediculous.
I was just wondering if anyone from around here had any recommendations of maybe parking decks, or well lit places downtown where I could get some night shots. I was thinking maybe Wake Forest's campus might have something, I might go explore around there tonight.
PirateJake 10-09-2006, 04:02 PM your car is super hot... good luck with the shoot

In downtown, 4th Street/Marshall Street area is a good spot. Also downtown, the RJR plant makes a great backdrop (off Patterson Ave.), plus there is a small section of white brick pavement near Church St..my favorite place to take car pics..

I was thinking about the RJR plant, I might do that one afternoon, I just have to watch out for the sketchy crack heads roaming that area, last time I drove by the RJR plant I seriously feared for my life.
E30 Stu 10-14-2006, 10:43 AM Haha, it's not bad. In the daytime atleast. :)
Seriously try 4th street, or near the church by the public library on 5th. West-end area is also a winner, lots of Victorian houses.
SLH350 10-15-2006, 10:37 PM I live downtown, theres a couple good places. Off of 5th street just west of 52 theres this little cobblestone road next to an old plant of some kind thats pretty cool. Theres also a new building near the end of first street, they have this little driveway/road thing with almost no traffic thats pretty cool. Between 5th and 4th theres a road running behind the church on 5th street that has almost no traffic. Bunch of parking decks, probably more stuff I can't remember. Don't mind the sketchy crackheads, they generally don't do anything except yell.

slowcheetah 10-23-2006, 08:28 AM Welp, had some good success out by the RJR plant, as well as some random other places downtown. I need to upload all the images to my web space so I can post them, which I will probably do tonight. Here is a preview though:
