Quick background. E30 with Euro 3.2 swap. Tilton pedal box with triple AP master cylinders (sized per Andrew Taylor). AP 5000s calipers with 320mm (I think) rotors. Rear is stock M coupe. No cooling ducts are installed.

I have about 6 or 7 track days on the setup. The HT14s in front are WELL past halfway. So much past half way that I ordered some new pads for next weekend. It drove fine at Barber and Maranelloman said they felt good. Obviously with the front pads wearing extremely fast the front bias is too high.

So....how can I go about adjusting the bias? The car is not street legal, has no insurance...so on the street is out.

TIA,
Bruce

I'm assuming you have a balance bar? If that's the case, just go out on track and start turning the knob towards the rear. Stop turning it towards the rear when the car gets lightly scary entering the braking zones. Brake bias is a personal preference...some like more rear bias to help rotate thje car into a corner and some prefer more front bias to make the car "safer" and easier to drive.

Obviously with the front pads wearing extremely fast the front bias is too high.

This is not at all obvious to me. I wear my fronts at about 175% the rate of the rears (stock M Coupe). I am willing to be educated, however. :worship:

Assuming that you don't have ABS, I'd approach additional rear bias very gradually, testing it with threshold braking someplace where a spin is likely to be benign. Also remember that it will dramatically change your trail braking.

I said obvious due to the amount of front and rear pad left. Remember I am not running front M coupe brakes. I expect to go thru front pads faster than the rears, but this is ridiculous.

Stock systems are safe, not fast, and use too much front brake. A real race system uses way more rear. Pad wear depends on the pads used and car setup though - just more than with a stock pedal box is the goal.
