ok guys. Ive talked with the prez of racerock somemore and he wants to make sure we are serious about this. Its making me nervous that we arent going to have the turnout, he really wants me to put a figure on the number of people and cars, and when i tell him I need to be right on (no less, more cant hurt.)
If you didnt see my post in the florida meet thread, im now working with the prez of the restaurant, he wants to promote the meet, rope off an area directly in front of the restaurant, and give us some private seating for dinner............
He also would like video of the cars and a club logo to promo the event with. Does someone have some footage of the miami crew? Ive read about some video but you guys havent seen it? Just let me know about that. Other wise ill have him check out some of the video on this site, I would like to send him a bunch of pictures of our cars, please email me 1 pic, your favorite of your car, and ill put them all together into one email. Any art majors feel free to come up with a nice logo for this event if you would like.
acttrans98@aol.com
As far as times on saturday jan 11th. i was thinking 2-5 show in the lot, and 5 eat...........miami please let me know if that is ok, and if it gives you ample driving time.
Also I was going to contact MakesandModels mag to see if they would like to cover the event. If someone wants to try talking to the other bmw mags that would be great, performance bmw...ext...
thanks guys......
Kevlar 12-11-2002, 10:23 AM Right now... it looks to be about 40 cars. Racerock will be providing food for all attendees. There will be one or two vendors there supporting the event.

Chuck 12-15-2002, 08:52 PM I'm there - even if its just to hear the exhaust on your car Kev! Finally, a Florida meet!
I hope the FHP doesn't find out about this and sit on the I4 corridor...
Genie_Tinik 12-15-2002, 11:19 PM Man, I hope everything is going to be smooth. I hate when we meet, and someone is going to do something stupid. I know few people localy who is capable of this stuff :(

As far as I understand, it is free for BMWs/MINIs for the event, but like I said, I'm only relaying information...
cabrioguy 12-17-2002, 01:05 PM anyone interested in caravaning up from south florida?? I am in wellington right off of the turnpike exit 93??
let me know.
Alan
bmw325iman 12-17-2002, 01:07 PM I understand that after RaceRock everyone is driving over to Universal, but how about some kind of an "around town" cruise? Universal is only 3 miles away from RaceRock at best. Nothing like the sight of 40+ BMWs cruising together! Any suggestions?
Kevlar 12-17-2002, 01:15 PM I'm probably driving up Friday night... and staying in Orlando Friday night and Saturday night.
After the event... there are no major plans. People will go their own seperate ways. I plan on staying in Orlando. If I'm going, I might as well stay and visit Universal & City Walk.
bmw325iman 12-17-2002, 01:26 PM I would think a cruise up International Drive would be sweet. And maybe through downtown Orlando going past all of the clubs (and chicks!!). Anyone else like this idea?
Kevlar 12-17-2002, 01:53 PM It's a possibility... but trying to organize 40 cars (plus the one idiot who insists on doing a burnout through the parking lot) can be hard. Especially when other cars (who don't care) and badly timed traffic lights come into play.
bmw325iman 12-17-2002, 01:58 PM I can understand those issues. I would just hope that those attending are better mannered than to do burnouts, etc. We are not a bunch of F&F ricers here.....
Kevlar 12-17-2002, 05:04 PM I believe some of the guys will be getting together to drive up from Miami/Ft.Lauderdale on Saturday.
I myself will be driving up Friday night...
estorlm3 12-17-2002, 05:08 PM KEV, DID YOU RENT A ROOM ALREADY? ARE WE ALL GOING TOGETHER UP THERE OR WHAT IS THE PLAN?

I haven't gotten a room yet, but the plan is to stay at the Holiday Inn across from Universal. I'm driving up Friday night and coming back on Sunday afternoon... that is the current plan anyway.
I'm not sure how the rooming situation is going to be...
Kevlar,
Don't forget AMS will have a 'tent' there with products for sale and will also have a raffle for some cool products. Raffle tickets will be $3.00.
I know AMS is not a sponsor of BF.C but it's on the expensive side for us. :az:
Eroc3 12-18-2002, 01:28 AM I am planning on staying the night also. Any idea how much the holiday inn is? I am up for a cruise around the city and I will probably also visit one of the parks. Let me know about the caravan up from s. florida. Im in Miami.

I figured, if people can drive 200+ miles to go to a meet, they can afford a $3 raffle ticket. Will you have anything for the MINI crowd?
dave1126 12-18-2002, 11:57 AM Sweet!! I'm 5 minutes away, count me in!!:buttrock
bmw325iman 12-18-2002, 03:06 PM dave1126 - Where in Orlando are you? I live in (gasp!) Kissimmee. I'll be going to the meet.
Kevlar,
Sorry we do not offer anything for the Mini.
fla_esp 12-18-2002, 06:58 PM Not sure what time I will make it, but I will make it none the less... :)
M3joky8 12-18-2002, 07:09 PM I'm in.....anyone wanna drive down from Jacksonville/Daytona area with me......
Hit me up.....
yes and FINALLY a Central Florida Meet.....
I am bringin Cameras.....hopefully its a nice picture day.....
Kevlar 12-18-2002, 07:34 PM Has anybody contacted the BMWCCA chapters for Florida to let them know about this meet?
The Suncoast chapter will be having a X-Mas party that night but I will pass it along.
cabrioguy 12-18-2002, 10:33 PM still looking for a couple of cars from south florida to drive up with!

When I finalize my driving plans, I'll let you know. Plus I'll relay other information from other boards about the Miami/Ft. Lauderdale crew's driving times.
Chuck 12-19-2002, 01:21 AM Any Tampa/St. Pete/Clearwater people want to organize a caravan? I'm thinking of meeting at the International Plaza in Tampa. Maybe hit the all you can eat sushi buffet at Todai before the drive. :D
I believe some Tampa/Sarasota people were saying Brandon Town Center..... Since it is close to I4.... I'm really not sure if that's what we are doing yet.

Oh dear Lord.... not the Brandon Town Center! That place is a madhouse - a madhouse I tell you!
I used to go to the Sears there to pay my Discover card bill, and I always felt like I needed artillery preparation and a SEAL team to get into the parking lot without injury to myself. Anything we can do to stay off 60 or Brandon Blvd will save lives and shorten the amount of time we need to get together.
I'll go out there this Sunday and scout a location for us, if necessary. Theres plenty of parking lots, gas stations, restaurants, etc near I4 and 75 or I4 and 301.
What about we meet at Fields BMW? It's off of I4, I believe. That way we can still drive together... but we don't have to worry about other people if we were meeting at Brandon Town Center or International Mall.
DTMpower.net is acting up for some reason and all the posts are like from three days ago.
dave1126 12-19-2002, 11:31 AM BMW325iman,
I live in MetroWest, I leaving for CT for a couple of weeks, but when I get back we should try to get something going on a regular basis around here.
icemann633 12-19-2002, 02:25 PM fields bmw is a paint too. I think town center is the best. Its right off the highway. We can meet at like best buy too? its right there. Nething is fine i guess.
bmw325iman 12-19-2002, 02:53 PM dave1126 - Sounds good.... we can talk more about it once the holidays are past us. Maybe set something up for the seasons. A spring, summer, autumn, and winter meet.
icemann633 12-19-2002, 06:05 PM Ok this is it. I need a final count for peopel who want hotel rooms. It will prob be around 40 a night. DOnt quote me on that because i dont know their availability at the moment. I will give you all till friday night to give me a room count. I will try and get the Holliday Inn right there next to the park but if not there is onle within a couple miles. Let me here it...
Genie_Tinik 12-19-2002, 06:54 PM Keith, please find out $$$ for the room (me and my wife please) thanks, gene
catbread 12-19-2002, 10:45 PM Count me in. Im 20 minutes away and can definitely make it.

Fields might work. Heck, I'd settle for the Wendy's or whatever at 301 and I4. Anything but Brandon Town Center.
Rusty 904 12-19-2002, 11:12 PM I am THERE i cant wait this will be a blast.....
BLKBMW3 Hey man i need to talk to you over AIM..... We can drive down there together from DAYTONA (you remember me i hope i have talked to you over AIM i am currently going to Embry-Riddle. Ok man talk to you soon.

Kevlar 12-24-2002, 10:07 AM Update: There is a little update that I found out. Racerock will not be providing VIP passes for free food... they will be providing VIP passes so you don't have to wait in line to get food.
I got the two confused. Again, No free food, just VIP passes so you don't have to wait in line.
Genie_Tinik 12-24-2002, 04:22 PM thanks for clearing it up :D
BMWKrazed 12-24-2002, 05:06 PM wait in line for food??
is this a buffett thing? or do we order from the menu??
is there a set food price, or is it usual individual prices.
thanks
-Mike

I have no idea how the food is setup... other than the fact that normally there is a line but with our VIP passes we won't have to wait in line.
icemann633 12-24-2002, 05:44 PM I was just in Miami visiting AA. I tell you what they are a class-act organization. Rey is thinking about goin along with 5-7 other turbo cars. I hope they an make it cause for all of you who havent been in a turbo m3.....WOW!!!!!! i was grinning from ear to ear and breathing deep!

If I would have remembered, I'd have gone down there too. It's plenty of fun... but when I got there, I always end up buying something for the car... :evil2
icemann633 12-25-2002, 10:59 PM Haha i know what you mean. I picked up front and rear strut bars as well as a track pipe....
Kevlar 12-26-2002, 12:22 PM Icemann...
You said you have connection at Holiday Inn. How about the Holiday in on 5905 Kirkman Rd. I'm thinking of staying there since it's close to Universal and I've stayed there before.
The internet shows $79/night, I called them and they best they said they could do was $89/night and the holiday-inn website lists at $99/night ... is this the same hotel we are staying at?
kaiservon 12-26-2002, 04:31 PM Line for food? Thats odd. Race Rock is a sit down be served restaurant. There isn't any buffett or smorgasboard type of serving.
Richy Gonzalez 12-27-2002, 12:23 AM Hey, I'm in for Stacy's Lunch Buffet. Anyone else?
...nah, I'll try to make it:redspot
icemann633 12-30-2002, 06:18 PM Well i talked to holliday inn....its orlando, a weekend, and in season. The best i can do is 90 a night....some guys are stayen at embassy suites which is 100 a night. I dunno what to do. I wanna stay where everyone else is so...
Eroc3 12-30-2002, 11:46 PM icemann633, I agree. I think we should get a vote on which hotel to stay at.
///MCubed 01-02-2003, 12:19 AM I say we save our money that the hotel room will cost and hit up the Tampa night life (sleep is overated, plus after a few drinks, a Vader will be just as good as a bed). Can anyone say Mons Venus? :evil2 :evil2 :evil2
icemann633 01-03-2003, 02:44 AM ahh....Mons Venus....U cant drive past tampa without a stop at Mons....unless ur under 18 that is...
Chuck 01-04-2003, 01:52 PM My car goes in for repair Monday AM, so hopefully it'll be ready for the 11th. They have to replace the door and the fender, do all the painting and all that. Its the best shop in the state, so I'm pretty sure they can make the deadline.
Rusty 904 01-06-2003, 01:01 PM hey guys i was wondering how i get to racerock??? i live in Daytona i know i will probably take I-4 but where is it in Orlando??? Anyone driving form Jax. or Daytona area maybe we could follow one another contact me at satlo7f2@erau.edu Thanks Cant Wait

dave1126 01-06-2003, 02:47 PM Rusty,
It's right on International Drive, accross from Bahama Breeze.
Mpower007 01-06-2003, 10:09 PM Unfortunately my car is not going to be done in time. We ran into a few complications trying to fit 10lbs in a 5 lb bucket. So I wont have my car with me.
stjobs 01-06-2003, 10:35 PM I looked at my schedule, it actually looks like I may be able to make it! :D
I just have a couple of questions; is there an entry fee? Also, is parking taken care of at Race Rock or will we need to find a parking spot?
Thanks,
stjobs

Email the guy in the first post... his email address is like acttrans98@aol.com ... so he'll know how many cars are going. Parking will be provided by Racerock.
Kevlar 01-07-2003, 01:45 PM Currently we are looking at about 40 BMWs and 20 MINIs
RyanC 01-07-2003, 04:40 PM Hey, you guys got room for another car? I'm in Tampa Friday for work, but the weekend is free as I don't have to be in Hotlanta till Monday morning. The car will be fresh from AA with blower :)

Bring it along, the last time I saw your car it was still undergoing the installation... I'd like to see the finish product.
icemann633 01-07-2003, 11:42 PM Man...i hate hearing when people cant make it...Neways keep spreadin the word. Post flyers at your local dealership. Its right around the corner.
M3joky8 01-08-2003, 12:12 AM Anyone wanna drive out there together.....
From tampa....Meet up at International Mall first or something....
Let me know....
Eurotrendz@aol.com
Andrew,
The tampa guys are meeting at best buy (across from the brandon town center) (off of i75) at 11:30 and leaving around 12:00pm.
Icecream ///Man 01-08-2003, 03:42 PM It was long ago decided that the Tampa caravan is meeting @ Best Buy and LEAVING at noon so get there before that b/c I want a good spot! I'm not saying that location was my first choice but it's done and people know about it.
There is an 18 page thread about this meet on DTMPOWER.NET which answers almost every question you could ask. The guy who's organizing this seems to lurk there.
As said before food is not free, but there is a LONG wait at that restaurant and we get to cut the whole line. It is not a buffet, we could have had one but the people spoke and they want a regular menu.
Directions: I grew up 2 miles from there. To get there you get off I-4 at Sand Lake Road. Watch out b/c they changed the exit from the east, you now exit about a half mile before the actual road so watch for the sign. If you miss it you're screwed for about 10 miles of confusion and extra driving, no joke. Head South (left from east or right from west) on Sand Lake Road 200yds then West (right) on International Drive. Race Rock is about 1/4 mi on right, you definitely can not miss it!
Eroc3 01-08-2003, 10:51 PM Anyone wanna drive up from Miami? Let me know.

Eroc3 01-09-2003, 09:48 PM I don't think any mods are necessary...at least I haven't seen anything about it yet. Kevlar, is there any specific landmark you are meeting at?
E36M3Ranger 01-09-2003, 09:50 PM Hey Everyone...I plan on being at the meet on Saturday with my dad. I drive a '98 Hellrot M3/4 and my dad will bring is brand new 2003 Titanium Silver/Imola Red E46 M3/6Speed Coupe. I know a lot of you are having problems getting rooms. Especially if you are under 18. I'm 17 so if any of you are like 16-18 and are realitivly clean I could have like 2 people spend the night in Maitland...its like maybe 15 min or less from Race Rock. Just say I met you at the event and you don't want to drive back to late or whatever. Aslong as you can get out in the morning I have work at 9 AM it should be cool. Plus I love having a lot of bimmers parked outside ;) Send me a e-mail at Mtecnik@hotmail.com. Serious Inquirys Only. Just figured I would be some help.

You're not the only MINI in Miami! There are at least 5 of us ;)
I'm meeting up with Kevlar at Tower Shoppes at around 6pm tonight, picking up another MINI in Pompano area, and then heading up to Orlando, you're welcome to caravan with us. I'll be leaving the Coral Gables (US1/LeJeune area) at around 5:00 to head to Tower Shoppes.
Post here or Private Message me if you'd like to ride up with us tonight. You'll need to make arrangements for a hotel for the night though... I'm sure there are plenty of rooms in Otown as it's quite chilly up there right now!

Scroll thru this thread, I'm sure you'll find some BMW owners who will be heading up on Saturday morning.
Will be cool to have a new MINI in the fold!

A drive would have been the icing on the cake....
However, it would of been difficult not to lose half of the cars :(

Great photos ESP.
Whatup1049 01-12-2003, 06:22 PM My Dad, firend and I got there at 4:30 and there weren't too many cars. It was pretty cool for the ones that were left. So basically we drove 180 miles to get a hamburger but it was still fun:D

The meet was from 2-5... Sorry you missed most of the cars. The cars starting leaving around 4:30. I'll have plenty of pictures soon.
M3joky8 01-12-2003, 07:29 PM The Meet went very well....No immature acts of any kind.....just a whole lot of BMW enthusiasts admiring each others cars....and the work they put into them....
My pics will be up shortly also....
Took over 200 pics.....gonna sort out the bad from the good....and the ones people actually want to look at.....
Damn I can't for another cruise with some BMW guys....
The drive was the best.....
Videos of the drive from Tampa to Orlando? anyone?
RyanC 01-12-2003, 08:55 PM I had fun at the meet, you Fla guys are ok in my book :)

Chuck 01-13-2003, 01:48 AM Looks like quite a few E46 M3's there, just by looking at ESP's gallery. Anyone have a count?
stjobs 01-13-2003, 02:11 AM I saw at least 5 E46 M3s... maybe more... there was a nice silver E39 M5 there also, and an E28 black M5... :D
stjobs
Tdo325i 01-13-2003, 07:05 AM E34 M5, not E28 :D
That car was beautiful :)
stjobs 01-15-2003, 07:55 PM Yes, I loved that M5... I thought they didn't make an E34 M5, and it skipped a generation until the E39? I guess you're right.
