so the time has come.. ive finally saved some money up to mod my 130i. But the problem is that BMW SA is very strict about modding or paintwork, so if i dont use BMW Approved or Original BMW Parts, i will lose my factory warranty and motorplan immediately. So my question is, has anyone on this forum ordered a fully BMW Approved bodykit/performance upgrade before?? If yes, then which modding company did you purchase from (AC Schnitzer / Hamann etc..)? How is the reliability and customer service? and finally, is it a DIY Kit or do you need to ask the local mechanic to assemble it for you?

Thanks

I think the M Sport package is freaking sexy enough as it is.

For example, if there is trouble with a major part of the drivetrain; it won't be honored because of aftermarket sideskirts? Sounds like extortion.

That definitly would not fly here in the States because of the consumer protection laws and Better Business Bureau, who knows if countries such as south africa have similar laws. You would probably have to research each country you were interested in to find out their respective laws. I know Russia for instance doesnt have anywhere near the same level of consumer protection the United States, U.K., Germany et al. have.

Dwimmerlaik: think again. It's very common for Waranty fine print to detail what you can and can't do... and it covers TONS of stuff that seems unrelated. Wheel, Brakes, ABS, most performance mods (unless installed at dealer with approved parts), and yes, even some appearance packages, depending on type (ie, high adjustable wings in the rear possibly changing downforce, or front skirts that deminish air flow around brake parts, thus limiting cooling.)..... Warantys' are very specific, and they are very general, allowing for dealer interpretation... - C
