I am trying to do a simple upgrade for my HK equipped 99 M3 coupe. I don't think I need 10 speakers, multiple amps, heavy subs that take up my trunk space, or tremendous expense to come up with something that will sound better than my 7 year old HK system with failing midrange. But people here know much more than me and I am open to suggestions.

Based on a lot of searching and reading here, this is what I have come up with as my Keep It Simple Stupid (KISS) system:

eD 9.4 amp, 65 x 4

eD 6500 two way 6.5 components (I'll cut the kickpanels if 6.5s are best)

CDT CL 69 free air 6 x 9 sub/mid woofers

Here are my questions:

Will the eD 9.4 amp adequately power the CDT CL 69s? If not, is there any way I could use my HK amp to power part of the system for now?

With the CDT CL 69s, do I need 6.5s in the front or would I be fine with drop in 5.25s be fine?

How much of the stock wiring can I use?

Is there any reason why I cannot wait to upgrade the stock headunit?

Thanks,

Philip Bradley

I am not sure i the eD will keep up on those 6x9's but you def cannot use the HK amp for any thing other than the factory set up. All the crossovers for the HK are in the amp. I would still recomend to fit the 6.5" up front if it is not a big issue to you, it will help bring the bass up front.
