hello: i've seen many different photos of the 2003 540i 'Sport M-Technic' exhaust tip. some look pretty nice... can you polish the tip to make it look polished?

has anyone tried to just weld a different tip (or dual tips) to the stock muffler or do you have to change the muffler to get the dual tip look (like eisenmann)?

any suggestions would be appreciated. i 'searched' without much luck. thanks!

...i've also noticed that if the front plate is removed from the 'M-Technic' bumber cover (2003 Sport) - it appears that a 'delete' strip will NOT work for this model. are you stuck with the 2 holes?

For some reason I like my dull bazooka pipe look..gives it character. The less bling on a Black on Black, the better, IMO.

The tip polishes up real nice.

I don't know about anyone else, but my tip is polished...that's the way it came.

I polish mine up like I polish a shoe, but it works very well and it has a mirror finish almost.

i would use motheres aluminum/Mag polish. That stuff is amazing!

Is there any way I could get a 540 tip for my 528? Im installing the mtech rear bumper next week and I dont want it to look empty.

any exhaust shop can do it for yah. you can just have them weld a new tip to your current exhaust, if the shop is good. or you can completely upgrade your exhaust, which is what i'm doing. dinan makes one specifically for the mtech rear bumper. i'm sure any other E39 exhaust manufactorer would make one for it too.

I suggest getting the tip from a parts store or online as most mufler shops bump ya an extra 20-40% to the price.

Only if yours came with both the sport package AND the M-Tech pkg. All 2003 US 540's with the sport pkg had the polished tip...I have also heard it was available on earlier models in other markets as well (Canada, etc.)

This is the best pic I have readily available of mine...you can see how it looks polished...this is right after a wash, but I have never done anything special to it, just Zaino car wash & microfiber.
