So I posted in the M5 spot and got no help. Please Help!! I bought a kit that claims to resore headlight covers. Spent 3hrs and it did about a penny width and 4in lenght(no rude comments) I live in the dirty south and it is hot an there is a lot of salt in the air. I am 2 blocks from the beach. The corroisive salt, heat and heat from the Headlights cause a hazzy look to the lights. I have such a clean car minus the headlights. Does any one know what product to use and how to remove this unslightly look.

brand new depo lenses are 100 bucks with clear or smoked corners, hella are 300. I've seen them restored with a mother's kit but thats probably the same stuff as what you tried.

Where do I get Depo Lenses? I used a clear restoration brand. I did not know that Mothers made a glass restoration. I love there products. I use them on my HD.

ebay or www.umnitza.com may have the depos. the hellas go on sale for 219 every once in awhile here: http://www.eurosportdesign.com/e39_clear_lense.htm

I'd get the hellas- they will match up perfect, the depos will just fit ok.

no problem at all! you may need to get amber colored turn signal bulbs if the ones in your current setup are clear- so they will blink amber when your turn signals are on. Also you can take the low beams glass glare guard from your existing lenses and put them in the clears by removing the 2 clips- I recommend this if your current lights have projectors in the low beams. You'll see what I'm talking about once you get them apart.

good installation instructions:http://www.bmwtips.com/tipsntricks/tips_pages/clears.htm

you'll need an 8mm socket to take them out, and when you go to take the old covers off there will be two plastic welds on the top clips- a dremel tool with a cutoff wheel or large diameter drill bit used to cut the "weld" rather than "breaking off with force" like those instructions say will make sure it comes off as clean as possible.
