Comeon, Augusta is Georgia's second largest city with over 250,000 people.
Augusta is not that bad...compared to other places ;)
Let's see what happens to the city when Fort Gordon closes down. I was hoping that was going to happen years ago when that base was on the list to get axed. I wanted to see the ramifications it would have on that town. Imagine what would happen to the real estate market and the rest of the economy.

7 o'clock maybe.
Summer '07 = ATL for me...for good.

As I'm sure you are used to hearing, Size doesn't matter. :rofl j/k
So I guess that makes Augusta a BIG armpit.

"Augusta" is already in the shitter and has been there for a long while.
Columbia County is where it is at. Evans (my home town) was ranked like 31 by Money magazine for the top places to live in America.

does it take you 3 hours to drive 150 miles?

I drive from Augusta to Emory every other weekend and it takes exactly 2 hrs and 15 mins going roughly 80 mph the entire way. The OP I was refering to was in Alph, GA. That means, down 400 to 75/85 then to I-20 and then another 5 miles or so before you have 2 hrs and 15 mins.

Yea baby! Evans High School. My old stomping grounds.

ah, yeah getting down from alph is a bitch.
PDWebb 09-20-2006, 04:54 PM I would but heading out of town for my brother's wedding.
As for the above comments about Augusta, I've been down here for a year now, it's not that bad and there are many worse places to be.
Every time anyone mentions this place, there are always those same comments. If you live in Atlanta and like it, good for you.

I lived in Augusta from 1979-1996 and come back here and there to visit my family, which is not often cuz it blows that bad.

Won't happen now. The Signal AIT is housed at Fort Gordon along with EAMC and now the NSA is buidling "something" at Fort Gordon as well. I've seen the construction on their other building and the upgrades around the place. I'm not talking some minor but I've heard from friends who work contracts there say they will be expanding once things are completed...some time late 07 or early 08...Supposed to bring in a lot of analyst postions and IT positions as well...last I heard around 50-125 new positions.
I don't think Fort Gordon will be closing anytime soon now.

True, I did stop by and they had a good turn out for Augusta. The last thing I planned here only attracted around 8 people for a turnout...they had about 20.
They were talking....long term possibility of opening a CSRA or "Augusta Regional" chapter with sponsorship from local areas, including Taylor BMW. They want to try to bring an autocross event to Augusta as well.
BruceH 09-22-2006, 01:25 PM We had 19 people there. Four of which were Taylor BMW staff who hosted the event. I drove down from Atlanta. 13 Chapter members came by and one non BMW CCA (future!) member.
There are no plans for a BMW CCA Chapter in the Augusta area. I can't respond to plans for a CSRA as I am not aware of what one is.
The Peachtree Chapter plans to develop more activities in the Augusta area thru the area coordinator. Anyone interested in helping with Augusta/Savannah activites should get in touch with the Peachtree Chapter.

I couldn't agree more with this. I did some work out there like 8 years ago and I wasn't to impressed with the place. Only way I'd go there is when I am passing thru to I95.
