I just upgraded my service and I thought I would share the details. I'm going to HD and they're throwing a bunch of free crap at me to do it. Bear in mind, I'm supposedly an 'A' customer so this deal may not apply to everybody.

They're giving me an HR20 HD-DVR (the new one, it can get local channels and is less buggy than the HR10), an H20 HD receiver, a 5 lnb dish (get's Atlanta locals in HD), a 6 month $20 credit on my bill, 4 months free HD package ($10 per month after), NFL SuperFan HD package (I already had Sunday Ticket). For this I have to sign a 2 year contract.

This is the best deal I've heard of. A friend paid $99 for the same thing but didn't get the credits or all the free stuff I'm getting. Stick to your guns and threaten to cancel your service if they don't give you this deal or something close to it. And make sure you're getting the HR20 DVR...the HR10 is crap. It doesn't get HD locals and it's slow and buggy as hell.

Got the same deal last week!! Except for the NFL stuff, not really a football fan:stickoutt Anyway, this all came about because we wanted an additional Tivo box upstairs and Tivo's not available via DirecTV anymore.. DirecTV now have their own DVR boxes.. Anyway, after calling the retention line, etc., etc., we also got a similar deal.. It's worth the call as mentioned above..:buttrock

Actually, they sent us an HR15 first and it too, is slow as hell!! Next Saturday we should be receiving the HR20.:D

We have comcast here at the house.... all summer the service was horrible, but since football season has started everything's been fine.
I still maintain that Comcast is the worst company in America... I have their tech support number on speed dial, literally.

A buddy of mine relies on Comcast internet for his business. He hates the service but stays with them because Comcast is like 20 times faster than DSL is in his area. Their slogan is Comcastic, he refers to them as 'craptastic'.

Sounds like a good deal.

Now all you have to do is to complain to DirecTV until they stop copping out and start giving you the full HD signal instead of their "HD Lite."
