What's the best dealership in the Philly area for used car sales, if there is one? I've heard good things about Otto's.

Cory 09-15-2006, 01:36 PM depends on what your looking for. Most dealers don't keep many cars that are more then a few years old or can't be CPO"d. An 05/06 M3 ZCP. roundelm5 09-15-2006, 01:49 PM IMO, Otto's tends to have a better selection of CPO cars than the others in the area (Devon Hill, Main Line, West German) but who knows who'll have what you're looking for. Over the past 10yrs, I've received the best service - both sales (in finding the car I wanted) and service - at Devon Hill, plus it's convenient to my home. They really treat me well. Pricing's not likely to be too different among the dealers for CPO cars but I've had bad experiences with follow-up service from Main Line (e.g., refuse loaners while your ride's in for svc, service guys that are somewhat less than accomodating, etc.) whereas follow-up service at DH and Otto's has always been great - always a loaner/rental on their dime, treated extremely well etc. Of course this goes back a few years and I think Main Line is again under new ownership (no longer owned by Don Rosen or Cortie Wetherill from Devon Hill) and may be better now. Don't have any experience with West German. DeSimone in Cherry Hill NJ also seems to have a good selection of CPO cars. Purchasing used from BMW dealer is the only way to go if you want BMW CPO. If the car's still in factory warranty, you should be able to extend factory MAINTENANCE (not warranty) through BMW if that's of interest. BMW doesn't offer an extended warranty although some dealers do offer an aftermarket extended warranty through EasyCare. IMO, I would be go to the dealer where you'll get best service and is convenient to your home/work. Even if that dealer doesn't have the car you want, they can find it and it's the follow-up service/convenience that you'll have to live with in the years to come. If you have no intention of servicing at the dealer, then go where sales guys treat you well (DH and Ottos were both great to me) and they'll find you the car you want. Good luck! Cory 09-15-2006, 02:01 PM Some salespeople definitely need a course in basic manners - not mentioning any names. Thanks for the tips. bellavus 09-15-2006, 02:03 PM Have you checked out Thompson BMW in Doylestown? I took my bmw there for routine maintenance when I was going to school in PA. Yes; that's why I posted this thread. roundelm5 09-15-2006, 02:16 PM Just saw what you're looking for... you may have better luck at a non-BMW dealer. That new, you're not likely to get CPO'd and will have balance of factory warranty. Try www dot sportsandimports dot us in NJ. Also, try www dot ckautos dot com also in NJ - I found my buddy an '05 M3 w/ Competition Pkg there earlier this year Alan 09-15-2006, 02:19 PM I know the head of Internet Sales (I think that's his title now) at Otto's (Joe Corvaia) and he's a really good person to do business with. Last time I was there (two weeks ago) they had a ZCP on the lot. Might still be there. Last time I was there (two weeks ago) they had a ZCP on the lot. Might still be there. They do have a new one. I spoke with Ralph who seemed like a really good guy. I'm not ready to unload that cash yet. New ones will likely be gone when I'm ready to go. I have to let my investments ferment for a little while longer at least. Alan 09-15-2006, 02:34 PM Why are you set on a ZCP? Are you planning on keeping it stock? I think 4K is a lot to pay for what amounts (IMHO) to a wheel and tire package, for a new one. Yes, you do get slightly different suspension and some interior bits, but really, a "normal" E46 M3 with 19s is just fine. And if you're going to mod, why bother with the ZCP? Why not just get a used 40K mile M3? Cory 09-15-2006, 02:37 PM Why are you set on a ZCP? Are you planning on keeping it stock? I'd very much like to keep the interior features to a bare minimum - no nav, etc. I'm guessing there are some without nav and so on, so the search is on. Thanks. jasonknezo 09-15-2006, 02:44 PM that steering rack is awesome as well but i mean for the price why not an 04 or 03 m3 bellavus 09-15-2006, 02:46 PM Yes; that's why I posted this thread. they didn't have any m3's that you wanted? Cory 09-15-2006, 02:58 PM they didn't have any m3's that you wanted? I'm sure they do, but I found the sales dept. to be totally uninterested in basic customer orientation. bellavus 09-15-2006, 03:31 PM I'm sure they do, but I found the sales dept. to be totally uninterested in basic customer orientation. that's really strange. My ex's mom purchased a 300i ZHP new there a year ago, and they were really helpful. :dunno AndrewBall 09-15-2006, 04:07 PM GRT motor, import cars of west chester, there are alot of places in west chester area that sell used forgien cars. some have a decent selection redfoot 09-15-2006, 10:26 PM that's really strange. Fred Beans just purchased and moved their Nissan dealership for instance. The sales person you dealt with in the past might very well not be there now. Their pricing has never been the best. |
