My alarm keeps getting set off at random times. Anyone have this happen to them?

I have already checked and greased the hood sensor, no help. I have a 2002 525i.

Do you happen to leave a cell phone in the car. A ringing cell phone can trip the motion sensor. In a like manner if you park and alarm the car with any of the windows open an errant bug or sometimes even wind can trip the motion sensor.

You can disable the motion sensor by a second press of the lock button within 30 seconds of locking he car. The clown nose will go to a solid red while the button is down indicating that the motion sensor has been disabled. That can be used to see if the alarms are from the motion sensor.

i don't think greasing the hood sensor is going to accomplish anything, but unplugging it will. if it stops going off randomly, buy a new switch. Or just leave it unplugged.
