Charisma 09-13-2006, 04:50 PM Definately #1. continuing ed 09-13-2006, 05:12 PM I like Style #2 better, since M3-style flares always look great on an E30. The unpainted pic of Style #1 looks a little mudflappish to me, with the flare being squared off behind the rear wheel. On the other hand, you could paint little Yosemite Sams with "BACK OFF" slogans on the bottom of the #1's... Jed 09-13-2006, 05:20 PM Doby, what about option #3: http://www.bodykits.com/images/VIS/V88BMWE30SGTWBFUL.jpg HOT! Mad Dog 20/20 09-13-2006, 05:56 PM #1 is the hotness. But how well do those little bumper extensions/add-ons hold-up? Why is it less work but more expensive? Biggins 09-13-2006, 06:10 PM Akard's car looks awesome in person. Voted #2 since it seems to be proven from what I've seen at Summit. shim 09-13-2006, 06:37 PM #1 is teh seks on e30's bren 09-13-2006, 08:01 PM Which one will hold more tire? ;) SpeedTheory 09-13-2006, 09:20 PM Doby, what about option #3: http://www.bodykits.com/images/VIS/V88BMWE30SGTWBFUL.jpg HOT! Ziiiiing! sKunkman 09-14-2006, 01:09 AM #1 for shore. NHbmw325I 09-14-2006, 01:35 AM definately option #1 megatron 09-14-2006, 07:05 AM john, i'll have a hybrid of 1/2 posted up before we leave for nationals ;) although i like 1 better, these mother fathering rimz and 18x315 hoosiers and wingz and splitters and diffs are expensive... so had to make a compromise... POOR :( vjlax18 09-14-2006, 07:57 AM Garrett, I can make the E30 style fenders with just sheet metal. To flare it the other way I need to buy E46 M3 front fenders which are a fortune, but it's basically cutting the flare out and welding it on. old skool 09-14-2006, 11:47 AM I always prefer the boxy fender flares. Hjasty Ipo 09-14-2006, 11:53 AM they both look pretty good, but I'd much rather have #1 Nbx33 09-14-2006, 12:34 PM this angle looks mean!! i wonder what it would look like without the MTechII Kit.I think the MTechII Kit helps the lines out.. http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c107/Nbx33/XXL20E3020325i204.jpg http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c107/Nbx33/XXL20E3020325i20construction.jpg http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c107/Nbx33/XXL20E3020325i205.jpg Basically any other Flare i have seen doesnt compare to his nicely crafted peice. I'd ditch the wing and just keep the lip spoiler-that's sweet looking. bren 09-14-2006, 03:00 PM ...I need to buy E46 M3 front fenders which are a fortune, but it's basically cutting the flare out and welding it on. http://www.manchestermotorcar.com/images/manchestermotorcar/english_wheel.JPG vjlax18 09-14-2006, 03:04 PM And a decent English wheel is stupid expensive. Maybe if I did it for a living. GUINNESS 09-14-2006, 03:12 PM I still say #1 and I also think you should give current and former MARBs a discount :D Mikey52 09-14-2006, 03:14 PM #2 looks more like Evo flares. Jed 09-14-2006, 03:27 PM Evo Oh. :( shim 09-14-2006, 03:31 PM Lancer Evo. double Oh. :( :( ZUUD BYE 09-14-2006, 03:40 PM #1 with big offsets making the ass look REALLY MEAN! SpeedTheory 09-14-2006, 11:00 PM And a decent English wheel is stupid expensive. Maybe if I did it for a living. John, check this out. Saw it on another board. http://www.anchorracing.com/shop/index.php They've got one for sale, it looks like. megatron 09-14-2006, 11:18 PM john, here's maybe a way to do a #1 style flare without an english wheel or an expen$ive e46 m3 fender. http://img168.imageshack.us/img168/9027/flareframeatrideheightvd0.jpg that's brazing wire glue together to make a frame. i subsequently glassed a peice that sits up against the body, then fleeced/glassed over the frame subwoofer-box style and my buddy is gonna do the bondo so we can make a mold for cf flares. the boxing of the frame makes it very sturdy and it allows you to articulate the wheel up and down to check clerances without having to get under the car. i wanted more of a bubble-like "hamman" look to the ones i'm making so i did it this way. also, the e46 m3 fenders are too RICH :(... this way was like 10 bux of material to do the mold. if you change the brazing wire to piano wire and used strips of sheet metal instead of fleece, maybe you can get a #1 style flare without $pending the ricockulous amount on the e46 flares. SpeedTheory 09-14-2006, 11:45 PM You could use aluminum foil and save even more weight, too. ;). vjlax18 09-15-2006, 09:37 AM I saw that, but it's not needed at this time and I'd rather spend the money elsewhere. BTW, I MADE my 17x8.5 Kosei's with 245/40's fit last night: http://www.dobyworld.com/images/front3.JPG http://www.dobyworld.com/images/rear3.JPG megatron 09-15-2006, 10:47 AM doby, how did you do the front on that? call me up, wanna do the same to my front if time permits. the composite method has too much cure time involved, so metal may be faster... vjlax18 09-15-2006, 11:21 AM Hammer and block of wood. Just hammer the bottom of it until the crease is gone. |
