hi, i just got a 2000 323i, and got a litle problem, the stop light indiacator on the dash is on, but there is no burn bulbs on back. i even replaced them because they looked rusted and nothing. the weird thing is that when i turn the lights on, the indicator goes off and the when i depress the brake pedal comes on again and is goes off as i release the pedal. Anobody has an idea of what could this be. thanks

What is the symbol in the indicator light? Check your owner's manual for the explanation of each indicator. If it is a red light with a circle with dashed lines around it, it is the brake pad wear indicator. Means that the pads have worn to the point where the sensor wire has worn through.
This sensor is basically a loop of wire, when the pads wear sufficiently, it contacts the rotor & wears through triggering the light. When you press the brakes, the wires touch the rotor & completes the circuit again, turning the light off. It will do this until the sensor is completely worn away.

no its not that one, is the one behind the car figure, on the top, which supposely mean the right stop ligh is out, but there is no light out.

make sure the third brake light works first of all. if that's not it then disconnect the harness to the right rear bulb carrier. check to see if the ground (brown wire) pin is melted or burnt. if it is then replace the pin and connector. if that's not it then check the bottom of each bulb for burns or flat spots that would cause a poor contact.

Take the bulb carriers out, unplug them and look at the connectors. Theres a deal with the ground wire, Number 3 (brown) in the connectors shorting out, and melting. This will let the lights work mostly, but turns on the indicator because of high resistance.
