Since this is going to be a V8, is it going to be a torquey V8 that pulls for days or is it going to have inline characteristics. The characteristics of a high revving motor. The past M's were all about quick and high revving engines. I hope they can still incorporate this into the bigger V8.

Look at the M5 V10 and you'll know the answer.

From what I read it will be the same as the M5 engine but with 2 cyl. chopped off and a little less then 100hp.

so 8250 RPM limit

I have done some research and speculation of what may be the next M3 engine. It is suppose to have 400 horses and nobody knows the exact figures. What we do know is that it's a V8. Could this be the same engine or a revised version of the V8 that BMW put in it's GTR Race car. The GTR engine produces 444 horsepower. We know BMW understates their horsepower since the 335 is producing much more horsepower on a dyno, with some test done by owners that posted in here. Could this be the engine that beat the porsches 6 out 8 times in '01? If so, this will be one amazing car.

I think (speculation) that it will be low torque high rpm, just as many others have stated. This shouldent matter so much given 7 speeds assuming they arent a lot of overdrives. BMW has a nack of utilizing the most out of there HP compared to say, Infinity or GM based vehicles.
