I have a 1997 M3 with 155K on the chassis. Brand new top and bottom end rebuilt engine. The car is located in Alexandria, VA at Martin Motorsports, Inc. (Gary Martin). He was also the previous owner of the vehicle and is offering a 1 year/12K warranty on the engine as a courtesy to me for the new owner. I am looking to sell outright, or, would consider trading for a street legal car that gets fairly decent gas mileage (for either myself or Jen -so, it can be an automatic or manual). This car is a bit too loud to drive on the street even if I converted it back as a daily driver.

I bought a brand new head and rebuilt the entire bottom end. I built it with one thing in mind: long-term reliability. It has an ARP head stud/bolt kit. Stock BMW bolts tend to stretch under duress according to some. The engine rebuild alone was around $8K - not to mention all of the other wear parts I am replacing such as entire cooling system, bushings, etc.

Kearney Racing built the cage to IP/SCCA specs. They installed the racing seats, reinforced the rear shock towers, etc. It is a quality cage. There is a 5L fire suppression system with two nozzles capable of having a third nozzle. Both harnesses are FIA approved and good until 2011. They are camlock six-point G-force harnesses. The driver's side seat is OMP with the side head restraints and is FIA. The passenger seat is a Corbeau. Both passenger/driver's side windows still roll up and down.

The suspension is RD sways, HR euro race springs, and bilstein shocks. I have a brand new set of K1's that are on the car with new DSSR's (one sprint, 1/2 enduro on them). The car is in amazing shape. No dents, no dings, perfect and it's been zaino'd (no offs). Rear LTW high-version replica wing that I purchased from another club racer (lutfy). I painted the side mirrors black and the rear spoiler black. It has a DMG exhaust (custom-made and super light); and, has high-flow cats on there to be eco-friendly. Aluminum door panels. Switches are all functional still - mirrors, windows, even hazard lights. It has a UUC SSK, and quick release Momo ball-bearing steering hub. Brakes/rotors are stock. It also has RD headers. The software is by Jim C. It has stock cams and an RD intake system. The race pads are carbotech's with cool willy rears. They are virtually 100%. It also has a 3.46 LSD. It will have a brand new clutch/flywheel, cooling system, and other wear components replaced. It still has the full A/C system and stereo system.

If one wanted to, you could remove the front portion of the cage and leave the rear in -- to become a street car since it still has the cat system. I do have the title for the car (clear and free - no accidents, and can still be registered, if you would want).

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. I also have add'l pictures I can email.

The car is extremely quick -- and with a good suspension, will run in the front with a good driver. Alternatively, it can be a great HPDE vehicle for someone wanting to be very safe and have a well-sorted car. Please call Gary Martin at Martin Motorsports if you have any specific questions on the engine build and/or car specifications at (703) 823-9735.

I am asking $16,500.00

Thank you,

James

*bump* - i am now back in this region. I've edited the price and would now also consider trades for a street car.

Thanks

Like something alpine ;) Just kidding James... I can't part with my baby, but I'd sure enjoy having that one if I could afford it. Good luck!

And for people interested, this is a great car and a great price. I know both James and Gary... so I know first hand this car has been taken care of and built extremely well. I was fortunate enough to take it for a quick spin and like I said, if I could afford it, I'd buy it myself.

Does the car come with a trailer? How many races/track events? Are you firm on the price?

http://community.webshots.com/user/kekua69 - I've added 49 additional photo's in the 10-13-07.

a) no trailer - car is still street legal (depending on your state's laws) -- and I have a clear title to the car;

b) no events since engine rebuild;

c) price is slightly negotiable depending on the parts that I am including. However, I do not need to sell -- it would be nice. But, I know you are getting a very good car -- almost every single wear part on this car has been replaced in the past year and all have less than 1K miles on them ... It's basically like getting a fully restored car. I have spent more than what I am asking to sell the car for -- easily just in terms of maintenance items (not including the engine rebuild, cage install, or aftermarket parts).

Right now, the engine still needs to be put together. Gary at Martin Motorsports can explain the delay (maybe not this week since his father is in the hospital); but, there's been family/business circumstances on his part that delayed the process.

Since I did not care -- I did not push him. As people can vouch for me -- I have enough cars that keeps him busy by itself ... so, he's been addressing some of the issues with my other cars at the moment which take precedence.

How may I contact you? I'm interested in looking at the car and possibly buy.

I currently have a well sorted A4 for DEs/TTs/TAs, but it's not a car that I would turn into a race prepped car, especially since there isn't Audi club racing.
