howzit... i just bought a BMW 130i as well, just waiting for it to be delivered sometime this week. But im sure that the factory claimed power is 196Kw and not 200Kw.

The power of the engine in the 130i is 195 kW. The new version of N52 engine for the E92 coupe has direct injection and BMW claims 200kW.
The rev limiter is at 7K but the rev counter start to over-read above 2.5K and at 7K (actual) the counter shows ~7.5K.
You can see the actual revs (along other parameters) in the secret menu of the trip computer.

Another happy 130i Msport owner :)

I'm sure that it' already in the forum ....

1. Press and hold on to the "mileage counter reset button" for about 10-15 seconds and hold. But your car must be in the "on" position however, engine need not be running.
The center LCD would show:
01.00
FTSNGR
(The last 7 characters of your VIN number)

2. Now, release the button and then every time you press the button, it will reveal different sub sections in the 01 section as shown by 01.xx.

3. To see other menus, 03.xx-18.xx successfully, you need to unlock it using menu 19. To go to menu 19 from menu 1, press the 'mileage reset' button again and hold for about 2 seconds.

4. Now, the menu would show 01.__. It's time to, without delay, keep pressing the 'mileage reset' button until you see menu 19. Now stop at menu 19.

5. After you release the button and stop pressing the button at menu 19, it will show 19.__ momentarily. Wait for about 1 second until it shows:
19.00
<?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /><st1:place w:st="on"><st1:City w:st="on">LOCK</st1:City> <st1:State w:st="on">ON</st1:State></st1:place>
Code: 01
Now, without delay, press the button again and again until you reached the right code for your car. Pause after you reached the right code. Now, all the menus are unlocked. Your code can be 'calculated' from the last five digit of your VIN number for your convenience. If the last five digits of you VIN number are: 28393 for example, your code would be 2+8+3+9+3, which are 25. After you reached the right code of your car, pause until the display shows some changes.

6. To go to other menus after unlocking, press the button again for 2 seconds (until, 19.__ appears on screen again, iirc). Then stop at the menu which you want to access. For example, stop at 8.__ if you want to have a display of your instantaneous speed when you are driving. The 8.__ display will disappear quickly after you stop pressing the button. It will now appear as 8.00 which indicate that you have entered 'Menu 8'. To access sub menus, you press the button once to go from one sub menu to another. If you want to get out of "Menu 8", press and hold the button for 2 seconds and now, 8.__ will appear. Without delay, release the button and press the button until you reach the menu that you want to see.

I just picked up a brand new 130iM Sport from my dealer. I noticed that some things had changed.

It has the speedometer up to 260km/h instead of the 240 on the pics on all marketing material. Also, the rev meter is up to 8krpm, and I could rev it up to 7400rpm when testing (which was a HUGE surprise)

I just wrote a long article about this with URLs to pictures to prove it but the stupid board system lost it, so I'm just re-writing this short one now.

The only thing on the web I could find was the following:

"BMW SA has confirmed a January launch date for the most powerful 1 Series yet - a three-litre, six-cylinder BMW 130i packing 200kW.", written November 2005.

I know that the E92 and E90 are getting 200kW versions of the N52B30 engine - could it be that BMW in it's usual style has covertly done this for the 130i already too. All the marketing material on all the web sites still list all the old information and have the old pics with the 7krpm rev limiters and 240km/h speedometers.

Very strange. Has anyone else come across this?

I can send URLs of my dashboard with the 260km/h and 8krpm meters, since this board doesn't allow me to post URLs right now.

Ugh... poor engine. Read the manual about the break-in period.

break-in period is a must, i treat all my cars like that. At the moment i have done 700km on the 130i, and the factory break in period is 1000miles (if i can recall correctly from the manual), but i normally run my engine slowly for about 1800miles, then i gradually take it to the redline, only after 3000miles on the clock, then i go into full attack mode : p
