Whenever i turn my car on it makes a wierd sound from under the hood. I've checked it out and it's coming from the left hand side of the car and it seems to be coming from something with Bosch on it. When i turn the key to first position it doesn't make the sound but once all the electronics come on it starts. Also this morning it sort of sounded like a burning smell coming from my car. I think that it's a fuse or something burning. Can someone help?

Does it stay on for about 2 minutes and turn off? If so, it's your air pump. It's there to reduce emissions.

Sounds like alternator? The burning smell could be the belt? no?
Hard to say without hearing it myself.

I'll try to describe the object a little better. It's two cylindrical objects right next to each other closer to the cabin than the front of the car on the left hand side of the car.

Sounds like your aux. coolant pump. It stays on to circulate coolant for a few minutes after shutting off the car.

Could that cause overheating when i turn on the A/C? Because this weekend i was overheating on the way to the beach and it seemed like it was because i was turning on the A/C. When i turned the A/C off it would go back down. Kinda wierd.

Ditto. Mine makes the same noise. I wouldn't be worried except for that smell... that could be a bad thing. And if it's overheating, get it looked at quick, it'll kill your car if you don't.

I just took it in and my mechanic said it's because of excess stuff from the radiator. So he's going to do a flush and that should be it.
