So I've decided to replace my fan clutch, water pump and thermostat, and drain, flush, and replace the coolant. When I read about flushing/bleeding the cooling system, all the directions say that the heater controls should be set to full warm. Here is my problem: my blower motor is KIA and doesn't work - thus I can't have it blowing while bleeding the system. IS that a major hurdle or can the coolant flush still be done without the heater on?

The heater MUST be on, coolant must be flowing through the heater core. Now, the blower fan could theoretically be dead and still have coolant flowing through the core. However, with no fan motor, how would you know when the coolant in the heater core is hot?

Ok - the fan only works on the highest setting , and even then it's not blowing a lot of air. Will that be enough?

Yeah, as long as you can tell what temp the air is, that should be ok. Sounds like you need a new blower fan...I happen to be parting out a '91 that has a good fan. :) Check out my other thread.

mine doesn't have the sword. it has the newer resistor pack. I replaced it with a new one and it didn't fix the problem. I think i need a new blower - unless my new reistor pack was DOA.

If you have a meter check everything to make sure it is in working condition.
