View Full Version : It's Alive !!
Tn325I 09-06-2006, 08:26 AM For anyone who saw my E30 project thread I wish to say The Grey Goose is on the road !! Finally !!
This has been going since April... My wife still says I did this faster than she thought I could or should financially.. But it is now road worthy.. All suspension and drivetrain has been replaced except for the transmission... All the the interior has been changed...
The grand total is just a smidge over 4K expense and many, many, many hours of work over the months.. I wanted to do it all myself but most of the things necessary were items I had never done before.... So, I could not have done it without the help of Ely... I swear this guy knows more about these cars than anyone I have ever met.. And is always willing to help, I don't know how I will ever pay back the generosity he has shown..
I will eventually change the wheels and a few minor things to get it exactly the way I want it but it is easily 95% or more right now..
The last / only big item will be a head swap coming in the next few weeks..:devillook
Then you will all have to watch out !!!:evil2

SSSHhhhhh...... Don't tell just how bad it was... I am secretly getting a badge of honor for the "resurrection" of the Goose..
here are a couple of shots.. I had just finished "shadowlining" the trim and moved it out into the sun for some heat...
Still have a couple of trim peices to put on I had just painted them to match the windows..

Here is a preview of the wheels I have decided on.. I have to order them so it will be a week or 2 before I have them on the car...

rs4pro3 09-09-2006, 05:52 PM Man the car looks nice Steve. I have to say I'm suppised how quickly it's come together considering how it looked when you first got it.
Tn325I 09-09-2006, 06:16 PM Thanks guys !!!
Even with the wheels I will stay under 5K for the restoration.. And I mean restoration, other than the body panels there is not much of the original car there...:devillook
I look back at the papers from when I purchased the car and it was April 23..
It has been rough doing this thru the summer... IF, and I stress IF, I ever do this again it will be a winter project... Doesn't get that cold around here anyway...:)
I'll have the rest of it together at the picnic... JOE, are you still planning on attending ???
mikese36 09-09-2006, 10:54 PM E30 Looks Great!

I will be falling out of a perfectly good airplane....
theseeker411 09-10-2006, 11:43 AM Car looks good Steve. It'll look even better with those wheels. Did you paint the trim black to get the shadowline look? I'm debating doing that to my car.
Tn325I 09-10-2006, 12:45 PM I will be falling out of a perfectly good airplane....
You know, I hear you can easily hit 100mph freefall.... And, everyone says speed kills..
I've never seen anyone die from speed... It's always been the sudden stop at the end that does it..:devillook
Thanks CJ, I was trying to make all the trim match... I hope it all works out in the end...
cerealkiller93 09-10-2006, 04:24 PM looks great steve!
cant wait to get my hooptie painted :-P
