There may be some who would like to see the difference between an HPDE and a NASA Time Trial event, so I've added another video from the previous weekend. Mostly, it's been edited to show open passing and the range of cars encountered. The 997 GT3 Cup (first pass) posted a 1:30 lap and the Nissan Silvia (the last pass) ran about 1:35 laps. I was happywith my 1:49s

Make that time_trials (with an s) in the URL
Thanks for posting. Interesting. The White Mountain Chapter of BMWCCA experimented with corner passing (insturctor and advanced groups only, by point-by, and only if both cars have been to the passing clinic). I think there is less disparity in hp in the event I was at than at NASA. Seemed to go fine, but I'm not sure what the consensus was in terms of continuing the rule.
It looks like NASA drivers generally cooperate (e.g. leave room at the apex for an approaching car). It looked to me like point-bys were pretty optional, particularly if the closing speed is high (e.g. spec racer).
How often does passing cause an incident (off-track, spin, 1-car accident, multi-car accident)? (Just curious -- no hidden agenda)

It's there. Evergreen Dan pointed out the typo in the link.

Thanks for catching the typo.
Point-bys were optional but recommended. I don't reacall that there were any incidents caused by passing. You are correct about passing with the high closing speeds. E.g., the Nissan passing at the turn in to the esses. He popped up over the hill at T3 and was on me so quickly there was no time to point-by. I think you can hear my surprise.
Addendum: I was running in TD.

Ah yes...I am downloading now.
Yeah, I recently started running NASA TT here in So Cal. So I would love to see how things are in your region. Which class are you running in?
Yep, pt-bys are optional, although in some situations giving a quick pt-by is preferred especially in one of those tight corners on the track. I have had fun with other drivers in my own class and we exchanged lines, making each other work for the passing. What I like is the download session, cos it's a good time to know who's driving what on the track. There are no trash talking about each other. Everyone knows what to do and how to play it safe on the track. If not, you won't be signed off as a TT driver in the first place.
EDIT:
Cool video!;) TTD too. I don't suppose you're attend the Nationals?
