I don't want to get into it much further (only to say its something rather personal) but yeah...I still managed to drink myself stupid.

Likely it will be at my folk's place...they've got a bit more room than I have at my apartment...

Shannon, do you know if I'll need any specific tools outside of normal sockets and such? Does it require air tools?

powellsd
09-05-2006, 11:11 AM
should not require anything except sockets and wrenchs.we had the drive shaft off once after i bought it to work on the exhaust some. but that was back in jan of last year(05).

Mojo325is
09-05-2006, 11:14 AM
Do I need to drop the exhaust to get to the driveshaft? I was looking at the Bentley and it said I should...

powellsd
09-05-2006, 11:18 AM
i think you can jsut drop the muffler and let it hang down some. or you can just take it apart at the flange by the headers but if i remember right it was tight in that area.

It was a crazy weekend indeed...I'm still recovering from my 4 day reality-tv-star experience. I'll have to let you all know when it airs.

My sister won on 'Home Team'. We spent 4 days furiously remodeling a house for them, and I was in charge of our group of about 12-15 friends and family members doing the remodel.

It actually wasn't that bad of a repair job, save the fact that I'm missing a bolt on my guibo...

Missing a bolt?

Mojo325is
09-11-2006, 10:49 AM
ja, I have no idea how it happened...we realized it when we pulled it off...

Mr Project
09-11-2006, 11:07 AM
I've got some extra E34 guibo bolts if you need. Probably the same size.

powellsd
09-11-2006, 11:13 AM
hope you put come loctite on the bolts after you put it all back together. we dont need those to come off again.

ADRNLN_ti
09-11-2006, 12:23 PM
Actually all of the bolts for the transmisson-quibo were loose with one missing. I'm sure this caused enough vibration that it eventually ripped the quibo apart. Once the quibo was gone the rubber isolator for the center bearing gaveway. The drive shaft was just bouncing around instead of ridding on/in the center bearing. Adam was smart enough to have ordered the center bearing !!

The most difficult procedure was pressing the new center bearing back in....I didn't have anything big enough or long enough to reach around the splined shaft.

I forgot my media card at home so no picks today...

S

Mojo325is
09-11-2006, 12:32 PM
...so we had to fabricate (read: jerry-rig) some deep-well sockets around the bearing and then used the old bearing and a huge socket to pound it on...it worked well...

powellsd
09-11-2006, 12:58 PM
 all of them where loose good thing u got that done when you did and had u replace that center bearing as well

Mr Project
09-11-2006, 02:27 PM
Yeah, I used 2 pieces of angle iron held together with a c-clamp to wedge under the center support bearing while I pressed it out. Bent the angle iron pretty good, but it eventually popped out. Ghetto arbors FTW!

AlarmedBread

Hey Shannon, will the guibo bolts from the e34 or e28 bolt onto the e30? I hear that there are a few guibo bolts floating around the Lincoln area...

powellsd
09-13-2006, 03:15 PM
i am not 100% sure. let me look at a couple of things. i think maybe the e28 will

AlarmedBread
09-13-2006, 04:12 PM
take one of the bolts and head to the hardware store, slap some loctite on em

Dark Helmet
09-13-2006, 09:28 PM
yes yes, loc-tite ftw!!!!

Mojo325is
09-14-2006, 08:33 AM
ja, I've got a nasty rattle going on down there (again) and I think its because I'm missing a bolt...

powellsd
09-14-2006, 08:58 AM
i would get that bolt asap. dont want the crap to go bad again. if u can get one of them go to true value to match for a new one. i think e28's will fit since some of the other parts match up. but i can be wrong since i havent done much with e28,e34's.

talked to a buddy(also a mechanic) and he said no. he might have one laying around if you can wait a couple days otherwise i would go to ace hardware with one off the car and match up.
