Fellas, this literally happened as I was taking my friends home, and decided to gun it, and SNAP! The damn cable litterally broke.

I happened to have some pilers in my trunk, so I ripped off the plastic shield, and twisted the 2 pieces of cable back together. Its really spongy up top, then at the bottom, well... it feels as if the car is on nitrous or something.. I hate it!

Heres the problem.. I am supposed to go out of town tomorrow afternoon, and with my cable as it is, I dont think I wanna drive on it, only for it to happen again.

I'll go to the stealer tomorrow to buy it if I have to, my problem is, how to I replace it when I do? I looked in the bentley, but it made no mention to throttle cable replacement whatsoever. I know the if i take off the cover to the MAF that it should just unhook, but, what about the other side? I dont know where this goes...

Is this gonna be a 1/2 job or a whole day thing?

Thanks guys, I appreciate any insight you have to my problem.:buttrock

It goes through the firewall underneath the aux. heater pump. You can get up in the footwell and use a flatblade screwdriver or pliers to close the clip and force it out into the engine compartment, then fish it out from the top.

You'll also have to disconnect it from the gas pedal lever...very simple.

Removal will be quite a bit easier than re-installation. With the heater valve and master brake cylinder in place, access is pretty tricky. Good luck!

Thanks Mr. Project!

I actually finished it this morning before I read your post, but I was wondering as to why it was such a pain in the ass to remove from the firewall. I ended up removing the footwell panel, using a long thin piece of wood and bashing it out... I broke the clips, but whatever, reverse install was nice.. just pop it in and it clicks!

I ended up having to go to the stealer, and with tax, it came out to about $45. Not bad for getting it a few hours before I had to leave. (although europeanautomotive.com had it for $18, i just couldn't wait.)

Anyway, I'm off to the land of chicken and beer...
