For those of you that have been in, or around the Rolex/GrandAm series.

I am exploring 2 options for the series next year. I could be part of the team management (although I'd love to get seat time too). I'm interested in leads on building a team, or finding a existing team that is looking for a new challenge.
One team would be entering a Japanese-brand GS class car (perhaps 2) currently approaching completion.
The other team would be entering 2 European-brand sports cars (class to be determined), with factory backing.

The first team is much closer to being ready to test. The second in still in planning stages, but has better backing (currently).

Can anyone help with leads? Reply via PM please.

www.grandamerican.com is your best bet to start :)

That combined with cash shown up front will get you as far as you want to go.

Also, just a note, if they are building cars right now for next year, just make sure they keep up with the current spec for the class (for 07).

Money will be the deciding factor. For any low budget team you could probably buy a seat for the year with enough scratch. What is your experience with motorsports? Generally, in my experience with low budget teams, it seems that the team (as in crew and driver) operate as a unit and the owners take care of PR, budget allowances and most importantly, giving the team lots and lots of money.

here is a recent post on Grand Am:
The Powell Team is considering what our racing plans for 2007 should be. We believe in Grand American endurance racing; the racing is well managed and grows stronger every year. if you share our interest , and wish to discuss racing opportunities in any class or category, please email us at: devon@powellmotorsport.com, or check out our web site at www.powellmotorsport.com.

Our most recent win as a team was in Trois Rivieres, an outstanding peformance by drivers Dave Thilenius and Marc Antoine Camirand in a Powell Race Shop built and developed Chevrolet Cobalt SS.

The Powell team won the 2001 Grand American GAC title, and consecutive Motorola titles,1997 through 1999.

Thanx Steve. I had seen the Powell posting. That's kinda what I'm looking at for Opportunity#2.
Opportunity#1 has a team manager, crew chief with GAC experience in place. Upon my advice, they are looking for a leg-up on the first season with a new car owner and sponsors new to GAC.

The note about money is *well* understood by both potential teams. There is never enough :)
Opportunity#1 is a new privateer team, with impressive sponsorship for a new team.
Opportunity#2 has much more resources, but are not currently players in the US.
