Based on the Draft 3 SE36 rules, would you choose a 325 or 328, and why?

My thought is that the 328 will have a significant torque advantage, but the 325 will have a small power advantage. The air box, software, and exhaust allowances will help the top-end of the 325 more than the 328, because the 328 intake manifold is such a restriction. The 325 has a 60 lb. weight advantage.

Overall, I'm guessing that the 325 will have a slight advantage on open tracks and the 328 will have a larger advantage on tighter tracks.

Of course, I don't really KNOW any of this, hence the question. What do I have right or wrong?

Thanks,
Brian

P.S., Is there another public forum where SE36 is being discussed?

P.P.S., I really believe the rulesmakers should choose ONE and eliminate the choice.

I've usually seen peak numbers with the same bolt-ons result in the 328 having a SLIGHT (or no) horsepower advantage and about a 20-30 ft-lb torque advantage down low (they equilize up top). As you suspected, the 325's definitely respond much better to the bolt-on mods.

I would probably pick the 328. If you can find one without a sunroof that would be a large plus too. I don't think the 60lbs will hurt the 328 that much, plus if you a big guy like myself you will already have a hard time getting to 2820lbs. ;)
